Cleaning DWC roots

I had an algae problem in my dwc system which I think I fixed but the roots still have algae on them. I tried getting some off with my fingers but only managed to get some of the bigger stuff off. How should I go about getting the rest off of my roots?

Hello Uncle Bud

Have you elimated ALL light getting to your roots? This will be key... The algae should then DIE..... I would get an airstone (increase oxygen in your water) and treat your water with Hydrogen Peroxde....

I would also change the reservoir water at least once a week until the ALGAE is gone..

cheers

I have 2 airstones, and how much hydrogen peroxide should I use? I usually change my water every 7-10 days. It's pretty dark inside the reservoir. I painted the bucket black. I only have 1 lid with a hole in it for now, so I couldn't paint that, so I cut a hole in a piece of tin foil and covered the lid with that.

no matter what keep the water cleaned and avoid any clogs or algae buildup with a chiller if the water is too warm. a helpful item to help with your water changes is www.edgewaterbotanics.com . its worked miracles for me and keeping my reservoirs clean.
