Civil Forfeiture - Holy Fuck

I know a woman that had her home seized. She had to ransom it back.

Her crime? Growing her medicine in her basement. She posed no threat to anyone.

Anybody that believes they are free in the USA is willfully ignorant.

To the nice folks that monitor sites like this, you should quit your job and ask for forgiveness.

the police can't just take your things.
Oh, but they can. And they do, every day in this country, because idiots let politicians give away our constitutional rights and get JACK SHIT in return.

Note that you know just how fucked up this country is, whatcha gonna do about it?

Because they had no probable cause.

But if you had just sold a car and the person paid in cash and you had it on the dining room table, it was visible from the door, they could have pushed you aside without your consent and confiscated the money.

What's more, in doing so they might have claimed probable cause to search and found your garden.

If they went around forcing entry and confiscating whatever they wanted, everywhere, from everyone, all the time, the realization that they are NOT our friends and NOT protectors, would reach critical mass; there would be "civil unrest," and it would cost them a bunch of money and make lots more people lots less compliant, which makes maintaining their schemes a bit more difficult.

We (the masses) have to believe they are "helping," or it will become very obvious to most people that they Aren't.

doesn't matter, cops can just invent probable cause on the spot.

And then you have to pay to play the "justice system" game, to have any chance to get that "probable cause" nullified. Oh, and you can't be doing anything else wrong either, or they'll construe "other violations" as sufficient justification to correlate your "suspicious behavior" with criminality.

Cop tells courts he thinks you're doing something illegal, therefore guilty, penalized, deprived of "rights," and you have zero legal recourse.

Someday, maybe I can offer more complete details. I am quite familiar with the circumstances though and know how and what happened. She was "legally robbed". There is no other to way to put it.

You can have your home, your money and your life taken without due process. It is very real.

I think it is legal and widely practiced. It has basis in the presumption of intent and foiling a criminal enterprise. It has lots of law behind it and law about recovering your property. And there is common sense. Home is covered by Constitution, but is not bulletproof. Don't get killed over this,

Step 1 - don't act like a criminal
Step 2 - step out of the car if asked (they will use force)
Step 3 - be meek, and mild mannered and lower your threat to nothing
Step 4 - tell them you have the cash, for what reason you do and have paper to prove it

It is common sense, but when they decide to roll you, they can and do, take everything to sell at auction.

Are you still trying to say that asset forfeiture isn't practiced by the police just because it hasn't happened to you?
Do you also have Ebola? If you don't have Ebola then it must not exist, according to your own logic.
Do you own a tiger? You don't? Then they must not exist.

If the lady had given them probable cause, then could have bargeed right in. And then the "plain sight" rule comes into play.

And i have had cops barge in in hot pursuit of some thug that they thought ran through our house. It turned out they were right. But, if we had a meth lab cooking it would be in "plain sight." They man hunted the entire house, top to bottom.

In the college days, a cop knocked and I opened the door emitting a cloud of ganja smoke and revealing a lively party behind me.

He manfully stepped back from the cloud of smoke and said to me, "Is it alright if we just talk in the yard?" Yes, sir, fine by me. I close the door and talked about it was getting a bit noisy.

1. it sounds like conspiracy theory
2. if they can do it, why don't they do it to everyone?
3. i can debate this without watching
Schuylaar, Yes they can and they do. Here is a link about a city/police trying to take an older couple's motel in Mass. The couple won.

Most people have too much debt on the things they own and the police/cities don't want a piece of property that they can keep or sell. But, they will take your car as an example.

The link is a good read. https://www.ij.org/massachusetts-civil-forfeiture
