Training Day 1

When to start training? Early or late? 5 nodes 8 nodes? I say when they/you is ready. I feel that growth coming on so those that were ready, started. Couple different methods. I like the heavy wire better for this initial bend. Let's see how it goes.

Nice job! They are pretty pliable at that age. That bend will stiffen and thicken that main stem and all others you bend.
Most folks top when ya get around 4 nodes. I just can't bring myself to remove my largest bud. Especially when she has a ton of secondary branches that will turn into nice colas...tons of colas if ya train them that is..lol.
I'm excited to ride along here and watch your grow. Especially since your interested in training plants. I see guys grow over a lb easy in a 2x4. Maybe sometime ya would consider a screen. Just some thoughts. I'm high as fuck and rambling..lol

I'm actually from SE Ohio. Down in Meigs. Spent my teen yrs there. We grew a lot along the river. Got a lot of family down that way. Beautiful part of Ohio. It's home to me. Cleveland is cool but it's a hustle.

Training will be key for this small space and light efficiency. I plan on topping quite a bit, as many tops as possible with strict lollipops. I have 3.5" netting but I'm really looking to train well enough to not need it. We shall see. I love the city and the cut, I respect the potential in both.

Day 24

Hit them tonight with molasses and yucca water, drinking good every 3 days. The pots I made suck, too flimsy. Will be trying air pot/super root containers next. The dry back is good, they're drinking and we have good air movement. They're responding well with training, especially the Frosty Mac Fish cross. We have plenty of light for the space, but that doesn't mean we have to use it all. I'm starting training early because I'm looking to have 75 to 90 tops between the two final contestants. Lollipop aggressively to maximize the results.

Observation

Just days ago I knew at least two that wasn't gonna make the final cut. Easy decision. Well, not so much anymore lol. Because they were behind I approached them differently. Topped first, then will begin training. One practice I will initiate moving forward is that no topping or training will begin until first top dress. These two have really turned it up.

The plants are looking so much healthier after uppotting :hump:
They have really made a comeback. I've learned so much just in these few weeks about the dry amendment game. #1 Rule....SPACE! They need extra soil volume to really show and go. I won't be starting in nothing less than 1 gal. moving ahead.
