Choosing a rosin press

Yea it was from the store and brown very dark and can visibly see plant matter and was like 6-8 months old. Just probably a ditch effort for profit. Kief isnt available often, heck it was crazy yielding 15gs sugar from trim from 2 plants.

Was hard to turn it into rosin I used to only smoke weed and rarely had kief to top bowls but already got addicted to dabs. So I have to spend more even home growing.

The 1.5gs or so I pressed was dry sifted from a home grown plant but it lacked oil. Just didnt yield a drop. Idk if it over dried too might be more related to oil content to shed.

When I pressed my first decent success it yielded heavy I was smiling. Then the rest may of had more of another strain in it than the other but something made me lose 10%. I also waited a day later to press it and not jarred.

That batch came from a good yielding rosin strain and some of a less heavy yielder. Its about to be just one strain next time.

This would cut costs in half. Anyone use rosineer bags? Its a 2x200” roll. I ought to rip open a old puck and measure the eighths see if theyre about 3” if so Id save 2.5” per bag by getting this which is probably why it cut costs in half. 20$.

Honestly I didnt think of it till now to just buy a roll and make my own little 1/8th pucks, if you just fold the top it shouldnt matter folding the bottom instead of a seamed bag right? Its blow out proof and cost effective.

Same quality material. Edit just looking at pressclub rolls I could potentially get like 65 uses that way which is an extra 25 uses. I waste so much cutting half of it off and tossing.

But thats just giving me 3” to work with but an eighth in the pre mold makes about an inch of weed. An inch to fold each side. I just fiddled with empty bag seeing about an inch needed to fold it in.

Couldnt hurt to try its a new field after all.
My mold for eighth's is a 50 cent plastic coin tube holder with a quarter tube holder inside if. Fits perfectly. Same size as a eighth bag and cost 1$

I measured the eighth bags at 2” but not so fast, they have bottom seam. To fold each side I need 3”. So that lines up still to save. Every 3rd bag is free comparing to dabpress if I cut off 1.5” off each bag.

So every 2 dabpress bags cut I could of had a free 3rd bag. My math is shotty. Weird thing is the eighth pucks weighed like 1.2gs each… When I weighed them were they that loaded with water that if I dried it all the way Id lose that much weight?

I know im extracting but only like .25gs an eighth. Was my 7oz really like 4oz? It wouldnt press ir dab if it was too wet..

Anyway yea so itll be a pain loading the bags but I like what comes of it, pretty nice clean product. Going to try doing 4 presses an hour and work 13 hrs probably from 9am to 1am.

Maybe I'm not following you but you don't want to press wet flower.. if wanted to go that route should have washed the fresh into bubble hash and then pressed that for live hash rosin. Definitely experiment with your temp too. Pressing at 220 always is going to crush your terps bro. My first press is usually at the 190 range then second if I do one is maybe 208-212

Oh yea it wasnt wet thats why Im not sure whats going on to weigh 1.2gs a few months later as a rosin chip.

Yea like I said I had perfectly fine rosin at 220F but I highly suggest getting it off the platen asap like 2 mins max heck Id do like 1.5 since its tiny eighth pucks they dont need that time to warm up etc like a 7g bag.

This batch at 220f was not that good because I did 3.5 mins, the batch prior was so good and buttery/terpy , everything you needed. So I under estimated what adding more time would do to it even though it was ony like 1 min longer than usual.

I just wanted that extra weight and regret it, if its not spitting out high yield just take for what it is. Even then it wasnt bad yield at 14%, should of let it yield 11% or 12% which isnt horrible.

I let it ripe a week longer than needed, the early cut branches yielded much more. Oof well find out in a few weeks. Fresh batch.

Just bought the filter tubes. 15% off memorial day sale and on several other things. But this should do the trick so its only 60$ per harvest. Im waiting to see how this run went before thinking about anything else.

But will keep entertaining the idea of making bubble hash after the harvest even if I dont have enough to use just one plant for it.

Watched a lil YT on pressing chottle tech and bottle tech 7gs. The chottle I think I can press 700g for just 19$ if Im not mistaken. Never discussed chottle tech here yet.

As for 7g bottle tech nug smasher guy was saying what some yall tried saying. That you come down slow till it regesters and keep it there for a while. Then press a little bit and thats it.

I remember that from my first tips I found online before my first press and swore I did that and still blew. Doubt me and thousands of others are simply doing it wrong but idk.

So thats awesome, the removal of flaps doing chottle saves alot. That would be like 1 dabpress bag 4.5” used 4.5 times. I wonder if it loses any filtration that way… If not Im doing it.

Just something I read. I cant get a clear cut answer if fresh frozen bubble hash yields more than cured flower bubble hash at the press.

So if I only yield like 100gs bubble and get 50% or less Id have 50gs or less and had to wait 2-3 weeks longer for it, cant find an average time frame for air drying but ya.

I keep thinking about it though. It will help a ton to see how this grow went. Hopefully I can use one tent for it.

I found this too which is the same guy I watched a demo of doing chottle, said it shouldnt leak plant matter. Save a killing on bags. Chottle!! That demo they did was awesome too.

Flooded basement and its not from me lol. I was like wait let me check my grow first. Pipes somewhere just spewed like 10 maybe 15gal of water and it all aimed at my shit. The press got wet but appears to still work.

Parchment paper done some other things. Just a puddle of water covering almost half the basement. Mini tent soaked. Power strips soaked. Filter bags soaked. Like 80% of my shit lol.

Im laughing now but was pretty angry but noone could of seen it coming.

Also got a better size parchment of same brand and line of product so no more cutting paper, just fold away. One paper can fill the whole platen up. Used to have to cut in half which is tedious and time consuming. 9”x13”. Envalope fold.

Aw ye Im pressin today! Im testing it on some old weed I have just seeing if it blows out or leaks plant matter doing chottle. Going to do 5gs chobottle tech lol because its narrow and tall chottle I saw the guy use 3” sleeve by 1” 7gs but mines going to almost be like bottle tech.

Going to want to do 5gs 4 pucks at a time to speed things up a little, estimating 12hr shift lol.
