Chocolope Grow and Smoke Report

Grow Report
  • Grew like just like you would expect a haze/thai cross would grow, long and lanky.
  • Very fussy with nutrients... Took me a while until I was able to get her to a spot where she didn't show any signs of nutrient deficiency or toxicity. Definitely not a good strain for beginners.
  • Flowered for 76 days before I got 10% clear, 80% cloudy, and 10% amber trichs
  • If you are prepared for the amount of stretch, this strain can do very well in a SCROG grow
  • Buds were above average in size with an average density
  • Final yield was 55g which was the lowest yield out of the 4 strains I grew under a 600 this last grow. Could have done better if I was more prepared for how fussy this strain would be with nutrients and how much this strain would stretch and continue to stretch.
  • FFOF soil was a little too rich, even with added perlite. Started seeing minor toxicity as of week 2 of veg and this continued until week 3 of flowering without adding any nutes.
Smoke Report
  • Visual appeal: 6/10... Average density with TONS of orange pistils covering the bud, low level of visual trichomes. Bud foxtailed just like you would expect a haze to do.
  • Smell: 6/10... Nothing too special. Slightly sweet with a hint of citrus and earthiness to it.
  • Taste: 8/10... Sweet dark licorice taste.
  • High: 8/10... Very energetic/uplifting sativa type high that is great for a daytime smoke sesh.

Do you smell the chocolate on your fingers after crumbling a bud? The chocolate fondue (chocolope x cannalope haze) did but only after drying and curing. I picked the chocolate fondue over the chocolope because of reviews similar to yours, especially the nute sensitivity.

I got 2 in growing in veg right now . They're going slow compared to strawberry blue which is taking off. I'm gonna inbox ya for some more questions.

Had a pack of chocolope from when it first came out(2007) and popped them 6 years later. This was one of the few that every bean survived after that amount of time. Found two main pheno's. One that was smaller buds that clump the length of the side branches(discarded) and the second was the keeper pheno. She had the best smell, structure, flower growth along the stem and took me 3 cycles to find what she liked. The rest have all been discarded because they didn't make the cut. She stinks to high heaven, has quick growth and should be lolly popped and shaped for best results. The taste after curing is there as well as the sweet smell like candy. Not so much chocolate, more like jolly rancher. (Suggest you search for this pheno, Cannalope Haze pheno, are renowned for their very sweet smelling buds that have a melon taste.)
She is done in 10 weeks with mostly cloudy. Pictures at week 9 (63 days)

The structure of my plant was very similar to this except there were sightly more pistils and the buds foxtailed a bit more as well! My buds were definitely more sweet smelling and had very little if any chocolate smell to them, but maybe a longer cure would bring out more chocolate flavor to them.
