I did not go into this looking to "win" or to "get even" with the ex, that had nothing to do with it. I just knew if she had custody what kind of lifestyle the kids would have.
 
RKM that is exactly my point. The kids are the important thing here and taking care of them. Doing the right thing in your case was keeping them away from thier mother and in dong so you made them better. No one wins when parents fight or separate but that does not mean the responsibility for them is diminsished in the least.

I know, and it just grates on my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard when I hear men bitching that the "bitch" got everything. Because 9 times out of 10 the men let it happen. Men do go into a "passive mode" during things like this. Thats BS, most of the time the men let happen. They dont take the time and energy to build and present their case. As history dictates that women inherintly are better parents than men. But times have changed and it is actually a known fact that women are also dead beat parents as well. The numbers are actually a little surprising. In my neck of the woods, the men actually win more custody cases than the women do.
 
I did not realize that as where I live the courts, so I have heard, auto default to the side of the woman and make the man, irregardless of the women's income, treatment of the children, or any other factor pay child support AND alimony. A backwards state for this and many other reasons. Yes, I will be moving soon out of principle not necessity.
 
i love how threads get blown away. i didn't go back and reread it but from what i remember......

1 person had their kids taken by the state. the kids have been legally adopted by new parents.

the other person has custody of their kids yet still paid the ex child support.




so where does the "be a man and step up" come in? just wondering.
did we get a "deadbeat dad" yet. whoop, whoop!!!
 
FDD, you must be reading another thread than I am here. Let me go review as I would not want to denounce an innocent man or woman.
 
"I lost my 2 kids to the state of Georgia on March 19, 2001 because of my meth habit at the time....whatever. No one in my family had the opportunity to take them, so they were immediately split up and put in seperate foster homes. I tried to do their bullshit as fast as I could, but no matter how hard I tried they kept throwing more shit at me. So it got to the point where I had to leave the state because of all the fucking warrants I had on me. Unfortunately my stupid ass signed the child support order the day before I left. 6 months later I get a letter from Georgia DFCS saying that my parental rights had been terminated......6 months after that I get another letter saying that they had been officially adopted out, and all hope for me to regain them was lost."

Sounds pretty deadbeat to me, "meth", "too much shit", "had to leave". Come on.

I am not sure what part of he is running from state to state is not clear here. Does that sound like a normal response to a father taking care of his kids?

which lawyer, the Ohio one? the Georgia one? same one for each state?

make sure you get everything taken care of, Ohio license, Georgia payments, Fla, all of it. no loose ends.

i sure hope your kids are well, seems like they have been through a lot... you going to go find them and show them what kind of man you are now?

True, but the state took his kids for his meth use. He implied that the state wanted him to do things and kept stacking things up on him. The fact is, the state is in charge, he must comply with the requests. He gave up and moved. He did not comply with the states requests and the state was not going to send children back into a house were meth was known to be used. I have very little sympathy for him in this case. The judge gave him a course of action to take to get his kids back and he failed to follow the orders. Very simple. I would do the same if I was a judge.

My daughter was 18 months old and my son was 6 months old.

All right except for the fact that my ex has absolutely nothing to do with it. The state is trying to get me for back child support they say I owe AFTER the children were adopted out.

All you people saying be a man...re read the thread from the beginning. I have not tried to get out of anything. I am more than willing to pay what I owe while the children were in protective custody. I don't owe them shit after the kids were adopted out to their new families.

Come on man, are they still not YOUR kids??? Yes they have been adopted out, that still does not take away the fact that you are their biological father. And yes after they were adopted out that should have relieved your financial responsibility, but they are still your kids. Give them the money, set up a trust fund in their names and pay into that fund for them to have when they are older.

I only have sympathy for the kids, it really sucks that they got split up. Nothing worse than splitting up siblings.

I had to hire a lawyer in Ohio to take the case because it has now been handed over to that state.

Unfortunately I have no idea where my kids are now, but hopefully one day they will look me up. If I could I would look them up myself.

Don't get me wrong everybody, I know that the reason they took them was justified, and I was in no shape to take care of them. But I should not have to pay the state back child suport when the kids have been in a new home, seperated at that, since 6/13/03.

I would be more than happy to do this if I knew they would get it, and the state had nothing to do with it, but I am not giving child support another dime.

See, theres my whole point, your giving up and you are relying on them looking you up. They are way to young, and by the time they are old enough to look you up, they will not even know you, or possibly even care.

You can find them....if you really wanted to.

Maybe you could tell me how then? When they were taken from me, I had no contact with them I did not know who was fostering them, and they damn sure aren't going to tell me WHO adopted them, so how in the hell can I find them? Where do I start? Not to mention they probably have totally different names now.
