Chevy Chase?

Hey guys watched Fletch again yesterday, and I wondered.. why does everyone hate chevy chase? I mean he seems like a douchebag, in some roles.. But he's like your douchebag so you stick up for him?

Yeh, I can't believe he turned out the way he is now. Watching the old stuff, I think he should of turned out huge. No we see him on community.. Which isn't bad but ratings are dropping hard.

I watched the 3Amigos! not too long ago. That movie is still hilarious 20 years later.

yeah i really loved chevy chases acting back in the day, i have all the vacation movies he put out, and i love funny farm, community has its funny moments, but its nothing compared to his snl or national lampoons days.

You know dude, I love everything the guy has done. Even in the present, his role on COMMUNITY (most under rated show in primetime) is great.

But I always heard the guy was a prick when I was growing up in the 80's. It wasn't until recently, that I bought the Vacation series on DVD did I realize this was true. If you watch the "Vacation" movies with his commentary, you'll see that he's somewhat of a self-loving douche. His interaction with "Audrey," AKA- Dana Barron, there is a certain arrogance in his banter with her. Not through out, but only a certain point.
And his commentary on "European Vacation" at the beginning he is tooting his own horn in the airplane scene.
I love the guy, don't get me wrong, but someone, somewhere, that worked with Will Ferrell compared Ferrell to Chevy Chase, because they seemed to be one in the same behind the scenes. As in, they were both "full of themselves."

So I think the bad Rep comes from those that have worked with him, and not the fans.
