Checking things out

High All ! I actually joined this site about a year ago; but never really posted much. I've been on a couple of other sites for the past 4.5 years & well, after a while everything just keeps getting repeated over & over. I figure it's time to move on to get some fresh knowledge & insight on things. I'll be starting my next grow in just a couple of days & was thinking of journaling it here. But first I need to know if they allow discussions about "Hydro Buddy Nute Calculations" ? It will be my 1st attempt at using the calculations myself & may need some assistance from those that use the Calculator. I already have my calculations as they were given to me. But I want to learn to do the calculations myself.
I'll be growing 4 strains (White Widow, Seedsman / Aurora Indica, Nirvana / OG Kush, ILGM / Pop Tarts, Dispensary Seed). I use a 4x8 tent, but only grow in 4x4 of it.
I have a 14,000 BTU AC, 6 gal. humidifier, 22 pint dehumidifier & fans in the other 1/2 of the tent controlled by a Saturn 4 Environmental Controller. For this grow I'll germ. in Solo Cups under a SF1000. Once I up-pot I'll move them under a Mars TSL2000. Once I up-pot again they will each go under their own light (Viparspectra PAR1500). Once I flip to Flower They get the Vipars & the Mars together.
My last 3-4 grows I used Bar Lights. Great for an even canopy; but I did not get the yields I get with a light over each plant. So to see if I'm right or not I went back to a light per plant for this grow.
Planning to start a journal on the first. Hoping to figure out who the pros are around here and pick their brains.... lol. Can't never know enough !

Wow 80F in an empty tent ?

WELCOME back

Wife has the heat on 78 - 80 F. She's always cold. I guess from her double lung transplant or something. That's why I run a Portable AC when growing.... lol.

Well so far it's looking like this may not be a very friendly site. Big difference from the site I came from. Normally I'd have about 20 people welcoming someone new in just a couple of hours. Here, I got 1 comment & not a very good one. "80 F in an empty tent.... lol." Who cares what the temp in an empty tent is ? There's nothing growing in it. Besides, 80F in a tent is about right for a 77F leaf temp.
I did read some of your members posts. It seems a lot of you are doing very large scale grows, which is something I don't & can't do because I don't have the space for it. It would also be way too much weed for me. I'm quite happy with my little 3-5 plant grows. Gives me just enough weed for myself, family & a few friends.
Anyways, I was hoping to start out on a fresh site & try to learn something new. I was really hoping for some help learning how to use Hydro Buddy.
The site I was on wont let you discuss hydro buddy & removes any posts about it. On that site... If it's not a sponsored product you can't mention it. That's why I decided to leave that site. Is it a Grow Site or a Store to sell sponsors products ? I think the latter.
Hopefully, everyone was just busy watching football yesterday & that's why there are no comments. Sure was hoping to make some new grow buddies & learn some stuff from you guys. Maybe today will be different ?

Hi Bam. Not sure if you are the same Bam from the other site I'm on too. I ended up posting the journal on the other site since I wasn't getting any replies here. Are the people just not very friendly or what ? I still may post the journal here too. I'll have a 4 day weekend so I'll have the time. Plants are only 12 days old so just getting started on it. Thanks for the welcome & hope to see you around. You got a journal going ?

If you want replies start a thread about Flushing or guessing yields those are always click magnets

I’m just playing to warm you up wink wink but if I’m being 100 with you buddy, I doubt you’ll have fun here. I’ll explain you posted on a welcome thread and literally 24hrs later called us unfriendly because you felt slighted about not having 20 hugs in two hrs. Also the one reply you got that you say wasn’t a good one by @Herb & Suds , who happens to be a knowledgeable grower here,about being 80* in an empty tent was your first tip and was completely valid. What he was pointing out was that as soon as equipment goes in there it’ll be100*

No, I don't Flush unless I get a toxicity & my calculations don't require Cal Mag (usually). I do keep a bottle on hand just in case. I use Mega Crop as a nutrient & it has enough Cal Mag.
I only add Mono Silicic Acid (Si) & Nitrogen 5-0-0 (N).
Some may not agree with the way I grow & I'm about learning a better way & new things that will increase yield. My average is about 5-6 oz. per plant. My biggest so far was 11.1 oz. from a plant. Wish I could do that every grow.

But I did say I use a portable AC during my grows which controls the temps really well. I'm not going to cool an empty tent. Make sense ?
I know they say 77F is the perfect temp. I also know that when I had 82F temps in my grows I got bigger yields than at 77. Maybe because of the strains... not sure. About 1/2 way through Flower I turn the AC down to 68F though to bring out any colors in the plants. I wont lie. This April will be my 5th year growing; but I haven't taken it all that serious till lately. There's still a lot to learn.

Sorry if I upset you a little. I was only trying to show some of the equipment I use for my grows to try to get someone interested. If I didn't use AC I'd surely be worried about an 80 degree temp in an empty tent as it would probably get closer to 90 with plants in there. Maybe even higher. 82F is kind of my limit for a high temp during my grows, but I usually keep it lower.
I'll post my journal this weekend. Hopefully you'll stop by & give some tips. Any chance you know anything about Hydro Buddy Calculations ?
It's new to me & I'm highly interested in learning it for myself. I was given my current calculations from another grower & my plants looked so perfect the last grow I want to learn how to do these calculations myself.

I do some things differently. For instance light companies say you should have your light at like 24" - 36" for seedlings. I have 1 Mars Hydro TSL2000 over my 4 seedlings. The light is at 12" & set at 35% which gives me 11,000 Lux. Why give the electric company your money ? At 36" I'd have to run the light on 75% at least. Also helps keep the tent cooler.
