Johny, just wanted to ask you how your clones are doing. I was told, by a fairly reputable source, that you shouldn't take clones after the first or second week of flowering. Reason being, it screws with the hormonal cycle of the plant. Which can cause your plants to do strange things, like turn hermi. The absolute best time to clone is in the veg. cycle.
I dont remember having clones. anyway, probably what u read was that I plan on taking clones. If I do, however, it will be during the 3rd or 4th week of flower because the branches have not developed enough.

and one last point why did you want a 600 watt in such a small space?
If I had known that I would fry my plants with the doors closed, probably wouldnt have bought it. Like all products, not everything is advertised. There was no mention that the cab would get that hot. I had the money so the upgrade seemed worth it and its working out well now.

Man, it really does look nice standing in the corner like that. I am so torn in what I should do. I'm considering trying to build myself a small room in a closet space. I know I can do it cheaper, but just don't know if I feel like going through the hassle. I finished my own basement, and even though it looks nice, it was a pain in the ass and took forever. If you had the option of building your own space, or still buying the Supercloset, which one would you go with now?

As for the cabinet itself, have you looked into or asked about possibly upgrading your exhaust fan or somehow adding another fan on the back? Although that would require another carbon filter, and would probably run another couple hundred dollars. It would also increase the noise. But you may be able to keep the doors closed then.

I did not have the option of using my closet for a grow space because my water heater is in there. My manager checks it occassionally, so that was out of the question. For me it has been worth it because people have seen the closet, and said nothing.

One thing I did not mention is the bottom veg. chamber. For the first month and a half during vegging, its possibe to keep the doors closed all the time. There is no need to turn the exhaust fan on so there is no noise either. This is when it is perfectly stealth.

I beleive it would be possible to keep the doors closed with the 400w hps. That is probably the only thing I regret, but its easy to fix. If you can get away with using your closet emo, save the money.

That is definitely a good point. If you have to leave the doors open, its not really very stealthy. I know it has a carbon filter on the back, but after seeing the pics of the back of the unit (Thanks Jonny), which are definitely not shown on the company's website, it looks like it has to sit a foot or more away from the wall to have clearance for all the vents, filters, and ballast. Seems like a cabinet sitting a foot away from a wall isn't very stealthy either.

I'm still worried about the heat issue. My house temp would be between 68-75 degrees, and it sounds like even with the smaller 400w light, it may still heat up anywhere from 10-20 degrees hotter inside the cabinet which really is to hot.

Jonny, have you tried the company's technical service line? If so, what did they say? They advertise the thing like it shouldn't be a problem, but temps over 90 degrees with the doors shut sounds like a big problem.

Sounds like I may have to shop around a little more before I make a final decision on something. Thanks again for all the info. Keep it coming.

Are you still looking for a cab? Have you checked out the cool cab that some folks are getting these days. Supercloset updated their site and all the prices went up. My deluxe went up $200. What did you end up going with?

I received this e-mail concerning the 600w hps lamp. Directly from the horse's mouth:

Bulb wattage and heat issues are a common concern in the industry and that is one of the first things we perfected in our Deluxe model. While it is true that a 600w bulb can burn plants, the SIZE of the cabinet itself has a big part to play.
In our Supercube and SuperFlower, two smaller cabinets when compared to the Deluxe, we don't even offer the 600w upgrade because it's just too small of a space and would actually be harmful. If someone ever tries to sell you a 1000w bulb and the cabinet isn't at least 10 ft tall, smile and walk away cause they don't know what they are talking about and are trying to sell you something you don't need.
All of our models use a dual fan system (one blows air in, the other blows air out) to keep the bulb cool and at a constant temperature. We also employ an internal circulation fan with the Deluxe to help decrease the risk of plants burning.
Our SF warehouse ambient temperature ranges from 55-85, and our display model (with absolutely no modifications) works just fine and the temperature stays constant. These are common conditions for most of our customer and we want to be as accurate as possible.

I too am looking to buy the superflower model. I can afford it and dont have the time to design my own set-up. Figure I have already paid out more than 10 grand in herb over the years. Can you notice any changes in your electricity bill? Johnny, in those pictures is that the stuff that they sent you?

I have the Superflower, and it raises my electric bill by about $40/month.

FYI... the fans are noisy as hell.
