Yeah I understand that, but either way I take my beliefs and use them as a reason to live which is what this debate was all about. I believe that your reason to live is just as good as mine and vice versa.

And that is ok... Actually it's not unless you're ok with it. Are you fine without having a reason to live? When I was a atheist the reason I lived was because the purpose of life is to live.. That still holds truth with me when I have extreme doubts about religion.

if you care to share ,what was it that the vicar did or said to you, when you rode your bmx up to the church, that sudenly made you believe there was a god ?
coz as an athiest , the only thing someone could convince me that there was a god would be solid evidence ?

"ALL HAIL J" .... we're just bugs in a locker dude .... our purpose (like every other animal on this planet) is to eat, shit and make babies till we die. personally, i find most "christians" arrogant and judgmental, using their religion as proof of their superiority to those that don't "believe". they are the chosen few, just here on earth until big J and his horsemen destroy the world and they get their first class ticket to heaven...amen. honestly, i think the truth is more than any of us have the ability to understand. hehe i think we are descended from alien seed left here by martians while here on vacation..damn tourists. "beam me up scotty..."

anyway....religion and politics are always a tough subject. we humans, by nature, have to be right...at all costs. can't we all just hug and get along? :hug:

just my humble opinion, with that and $7.00 you can get a latte from starbucks. ($7.00 cups of coffee?, why why why)

It wasn't instant belief. I left and decided to look further into because I enjoyed the lessons (don't think that I believe the bible is all jolly just take a look at my thread asking why god is mean). I found that there was many historical facts proving many of the stories told in the bible (you can look these things up and even visit the historical sites or look deep into the evidence). So I knew there was some fact in the bible for sure. Then came the things that Jesus was said to have done.. Well I can't honestly say anything to back that up. Then came the actual god factor.. Well I believe that there's higher beings and that someday we will learn of these things.. When that becomes a fact, it won't be so far fetched to think a higher being (known as god to our ancestors) created us (just like we can create life). I understand that these reasons are not good enough to take as fact that why I think of it as a possibility and I have "faith" that IF there is a god, he will not punish me for having my extreme doubts about him when he never took the time to say hello to me. So yeah....

Well here's a hug and a gram for you my friend.. What I find strange about your point about Christians is that I have flat out seen many atheists even here on RIU say they are superior than religious people and that we are crazy dumabsses... I haven't seen any religious people say that about atheists. And I can honestly say that I don't think I'm superior than atheists or any other religion and I can also say I love you guys all the same.

Ive said this before, but I'll say it again for you. I'm not trying to be right (if I'm right I go to hell for eternity), they're just beliefs. And it's not like I ignore facts or anything.

Too much for coffee, I would rather buy 30 cream sodas for 5 bucks lol.

didn't mean to imply that YOU personally are arrogant or judgmental....but, i do live in a small town with a church on every corner (literally) pretty much the buckle of the bible belt...lots of good people but definitely uptight. i worked for a "good christian" lady that told me that my tongue ring made me appear low.....low? now who's stereotyping who. you know what i told her?......i don't think jesus would turn me away because of my jewelry....what do you think? was just making a personal observation from my own life experiences, and meant no offense. {{air hug}}

No offense taken.... You should have told her that the ring costs money... So obviously you're not low lol. Besides, who is she to judge? I completely agree with you about how a large portion of Christians are rude. But then if you think about it, are we not judging them by calling them rude?
