Cheapest simplest way to maximize yield

I've noticed the price of lights and tents have gone down.

How many plants can I legally grow in California? Was thinking of going sog, but perhaps a scrog would be better. Or even just a few normal plants.

I'm looking for a good yield, I don't have a ton of money, and I don't have a lot of clones to pot, so I'm thinking just a few plants, or one, would be simple and get me started.

Any idea how to maximize yield cheaply?

Thinking of going with a 400w high pressure sodium/metal halide in a 3x3 tent.

What size pot, how many plants, and what techniques should I use to optimize yield?

Should I veg a plant and then take like a bunch of clones and then flower the clones and remove the mother plant?

I'm hoping to get over three ounces, is there anything tried and true that will get me over 3 ounces?

You can get over 3 oz off 1 plant pretty easy. I do it on the cheap.

my last plant was an autoflower trans siberian strain from auto seeds.

grown in 5 gallons of harvest (lowes cheap cheap) organic potting soil.. I added in perlite,vermiculite,composted cow manure,bone meal,dolotmite lime.

only fed fox farm tiger bloom.

Grown under a 180 watt full spectrum ufo led light.


If you wanna use HPS.. go for it .. you dont need a tent though.. for the cost of paint .. paint a closet flat white.

the easiest ways to assure over 3 oz you could do a scrog of 2 plants under 400 watt HPS or mars 600 LED.

I personally would get a 600 watt LED thats me though.

Most important would be to find a big yielding strain that you enjoy.. Dr. Kripplings increidble bulk is a good one.. Also World Of Seeds northern lights x big bud.

I would find you 2 good yielding strains you like and scrog them next to each other. Hell you'll most likely get 5-6 oz from 2 plants and you could get up to 8 oz.


The best I ever got off 1 plant was off an auto actually and with more light it could have done better.. 88.3 grams dry weight under 180 watt ufo.


I now use 2 led lights together.. mars 300 and 180 watt ufo.. gives me right at 220 true watts ,.. If mars hydro made a mars 400 or 450 thats what my setup would be equal too.


With a mars 600 you can easily grow 3 plants. I think using a mars 600 and 3 good yielding strains in a closet u painted white is by far the cheapest way to up yields. Mars 600 light is like 170$ shipped to your door off amazon. you can get the mars 300 I use for 70-80$

Look up something called" doing it Captain Style" it works. I just pulled over 500 grams off one plant under one 600 watt hps. Dont hesitate , it works. Follow the recipe. Happy growing !

Hydroponics give the best yield but soil grows are cheap and simple. It doesn't get any simpler than a plant in a dirt pot; just water them as needed and transplant to fresh mix when they outgrow their pots. In organic soil grows the quality of your mix becomes very important whereas in hydro the quality of your nutrients become important. Don't try to do both: nutes work best in hydroponic mediums like coco and organic soil works best with plain water and a source of compost. Soil IMO produces the tastiest bud with the least amount of effort. You can get yields in soil that rival hydro but it usually takes some exp to get there.
A 400w hid light is good for a 3x3 tent; a 600w would yield more but also throw more heat in that small space. Either way you'll need a good ducted inline exhaust to control heat and exchange the air which is super important and often overlooked when starting out.
You can easily fit 4 plants in 7g pots; focus on keeping your plants healthy and yields will follow. Any strain will yield nicely if properly trained and kept healthy; select beans or clones you have smoked and liked the taste/effects of and go from there. Don't always go for what's trending in the top 10 on seed websites; they are marketing those strains for a reason.
Train out your plants by topping and LST-ing; wait until they are fully mature before you flip them to bloom. A scrog net is very easy to setup in a square tent. You can get netting already made or make a simple grid out of hemp twine or nylon cord.
I have a perpetual grow and a dedicated bloom room now but I started out with a 400w in a 3x3 same as you. What I do is start a few plants at a time from fem seed & then take a fuckload of clones from those plants just before flipping to bloom phase. The process can be repeated over & over to keep cloning the clones indefinitely or new strains can be added as desired. You don't need to keep a mother plant in veg indefinitely unless you plan to do a sog style grow. Having at least one extra grow area to keep a mama vegging, start new seeds, or run a small cloner is invaluable and will speed up time in between harvests. be prepared, they'll only grow to their weakest resource, but you get to decide what that will be

once my patients sample a chemdog(HSO, Tre Dawgsetc) they arent interested in others.
Its about all I grow now(+Tahoe OG= omfg), all satisfying experiences in the garden and the pipe.

My tahoe og just got the boot. Underwhelmed to say the least. Not giving up still got 5 more beans ! Im pretty full so i can only try one new one at a time. Glad you found a keeper !

keeper? My whole pack of fems were the same, Each was a power packed shit storm of fire crystals and ancient incense.
without multiple topping in veg she's tall and lanky flowering fist sized buds just not too many of them. I chose to work with one and she was sexually confused, applied Reverse one time to the fan leaves and been cloning from a clone since 2009. she is a rockstar here, everyone is floored when then see/try it. sorry yours didnt please

I did try a whole pack of original sour diesel - same thing , mediocre . i ordered some kosher kush and got some orange tasting shit ( same breeder has tangie kush) , so who knows if the beans are legit.
