Cheaper C02?

I've been reading a lot about CO2 enrichment and am trying some yest made CO2 but all the systems I read about are for larger operations. For the smaller sized areas I figured a paintball tank actually would suffice but then you have to buy some 3 or 400 dollar system and that's just too much for a smaller grow. I looked into aquarium enrichment and found that there are some pretty cheap options for a smaller grower but I dont know enough about CO2 enrichment to say if theses actually will work or not.

the first is suppose to be the "best" for
aquarium enrichment using a paintball tank at $200
http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/co2-regulators/paintball-co2-regulator.html
and this is just another cheaper looking version of the same thing... at $140
http://www.dtpetsupplies.com/catalog/Co2-Equipment/CO2-Systems/Red-Sea-CO2-Pro-System-for-PAINTBALL-CO2-cylinders-CO2-cylinder-not-included/

can any of these be tied into a fan system so that the CO2 only blows out when the exhaust is off? if that can be done im sure you can fine tune the "bubbles per minute" when its on for optimum enrichment, making co2 much cheaper for a smaller grower! :hump:

that looks interesting. i guess the poor mans is spraying club soda on the leaves. Do you use that???
Would still like a more definitive answer on the aquarium deal. I like the idea of automated CO2 enrichment with possibly using your product as a supplement to it?? what do you think?

I simply crack a window and make sure they have fresh air

I gave you the link as a cheap CO2 alternative

Well thanks! do you use it by any chance??
I like the idea of a sealed room with enrichment to more fine tune the atmosphere. good grow btw i read your goin loco thread a while back and it gave me the base for my light set up! good stuff imo..

A sealed room is more about stealth

CO2 is more about commercial growing, for faster/higher yields

if you are not yet experienced with dialing all the numbers without CO2 adding it will not help much, it's all about the garden setup

My Goin Loco grow was totally un-sealed :bigjoint:

PS No I do not use it, I am merely aware of it

true. nothing I would buy just yet but its good to know at least.
I was looking at this because I read CO2 enriched plants can withstand much higher temps and this means more powerful lighting in a better sealed room.. not to mention how do you add c02 if its sealed? wont it die without co2?
Right now mine is unsealed and I plan on keeping it that way for a while..

I use CO2 tablets that you buy at aquarium supply stores. One tablet in a cup of water releases 350 CC of CO2, like an alka seltzer. It raises the temperature of the room and shoots humidity thru the roof, but they are cheap and easy.

How long do these last? I'm beginning to think it would be easier to just buy a CO2 regulator and timer when i get the money. For now I'll stick with the yeast method as it is aiding the grow quite well.

I've heard somewhere that you can use dry-ice in water. The bubbles it releases is CO2. Not sure the effectiveness or how much it will release

if you have a small op
the best co2 idea is to get some dryer hose ducting and suck the air from outside like from a window right to your plants
theres around 300-400 ppm's of co2 outside with a fan sucking air in you could make that close to 600
and this is plenty for a small op

hmmm. well my thoughts for using CO2 are actually for a 4x2 area 4ft tall so 36cubic feet, It will have an exhaust that draws in filtered air but I was thinking about adding CO2 to that as well because the air is a bit stale if you will, which is why i want it filtered, but it is quite cold year round so I wont need a/c..

and on the subject of stealth there is nothing stealthy about a shinny metal tube going from some random dresser/closet to a window.........

where did you get the tools to run all that and how much did it run you?? I'm thinking about a 10lb bottle so that I dont have to refill as often. also I'm aware you only run it when the lights are on because thats when the plants absorb the CO2?
