all I know is for 100 to 200 usd I can buy a 1000w to 2000w led chip and some drivers and it`ll beat the fuck out of any new light for output and value

might cause me some stress making it

so sure maybe they can make a 100w to 300w real draw light thats ok for £100 but I`d hunt around you find people with new stuff they can`t use all the time... cos of fear of the cops or the wife or whatever

It won`t be 600w it`ll be 100w to 300w at best, but when I make a 1000w led the least it`ll draw at the plug is 1000w

lol sounds like my journey
I actually resented the LED section a bit. It's so bloated with misinformation that leaves a newbie like me feeling like I need to be a rocket scientist to be able to use the most efficient lighting. That wasn't the case at all, all I needed to do was swallow my pride and spend 10% more to get a pre-wired/pasted/mounted/etc. kit with a killer warranty and real US based support hah. Screw soldering, wiring, etc. I wish someone would have said something like:

1. If you are absolutely capped at $200 with ZERO wiggle room, go HPS
2. If you are absolutely capped at $200 and for whatever reason (even though you're brand new) firmly stuck on LED because it appears to be the cool thing to do AND you suck at soldering and or mentally parsing how lighting engines work in general, go with an LED panel but know deep down that your taking a hit because you've insisted on running LED without a reasonable budget...
3. If you're are absolutely capped at $200 and you're game for soldering and accept that if you screw up, tough titty, good... You can now piece together what should be the only way to go when it comes to LED which is a proper COB setup.
4. If you can squeeze an extra $50 or so and have zero electrical skills and love the idea of a 5 year warranty and phone support, got with timber's 2 CXB3590 kit.

Well fuck me rinnin. This is the first ive ever heard of plug n play cob kits.. excuse my ignorance
The ability to re-configure the layout is priceless. I had originally planned on going with a SCROG so I layed mine out in an equal grid ensuring even canopy coverage across my entire tent. Now I'm trying mainlining and if I like it, I'll simply tighten up their spacing to support a single row of 4x 5G pots (I have a 6 light kit). Sure you can move panels around and such but with these modular pre-wired kits you can literally drop a light on each plant.

After reading about the king it seems like trash. it appears their numbers are off or they are just straight out lying.

I think i am buying an LED but while I am using it is plan on learning more about these cob's and even getting into trying to build one. I am not scared it is just the time I have.

Sweet man, I really liked my vipars while I had them and you've been given some great advice. What works for you is the most important thing as mentioned earlier. Glad so many folks chimed in.

Got some cheap leds that just turned up this last week. Also 2 turning up next week. All used. Outlay is £282 all in, which is $343 for all 4 panels. Waiting on 2 advanced platinum p150's to turn up. Got a G3 smart led with a white cob, uv, ir, red, deep red, blue and deep blue. Prakasa 120w, lots of 630nm and 660nm.

When other 2 are plugged in I'll be using them in a ring around 315w cmh.

This Prakasa 120w led cost me £46, which is $56.08

Thanks again everyone for all the help. I am now decided by the vipar 450w and the meizhi 450w
Good choice. No matter what lights you get in the future. Those leds will be able to veg or flower plants, even keep mother plants under for years to come!

I love the reaction plants have when an led is plugged in! Within hours they get real happy and start leaf praying. Best advice is move the led up and down, see what you can learn with it. In flowering, drop it right down, but if you get bleached buds or hash tips, move it back slightly until that stops. You will find the sweet spot then. Every led has a sweet spot (:
