When it comes to spider mites, don't think that a more "costly" fix isn't worth it. I've tried numerous natural remedies, none worked. Spraying a 1:1 mix of rubbing alcohol and water on the mites killed some, but they always came back. If you really want to get rid of them, go to your nearest grow shop OR search eBay for Floramite (to kill them - but only use in veg stage as very potent and will be retained by the plant for 21 days) THEN Azatrol to maintain after the initial kill off from the Floramite. Avid is another good one as well as AzaMax.

I know the initial expense sounds like a lot, however (for instance) the Floramite only takes 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water. Even a small $19.00 bottle will make 5 gallons of spray. That's a LOT depending on how many plants you have. It's worth it.

If your friend's plant is in flower, it's going to be tough going - but do something quick. They multiply rapidly and will kill his plant in short order...if the plant doesn't die, the bud won't be worth the trouble.

One of the reasons he has spider mites is his grow area is too dry. Increase the humidity and buy some REAL ladybugs and you shouldn't have the problem anymore after you kill them with a miticide or with the neem oil.

Ladybugs? Is that the name of a product or do you mean the bug?

Don't Ladybugs eat leafs?

If not, will they work on all mites, thrips, & aphids, and where would you buy them?
(I just had thrips & it's very dry in this state so it's a good idea to take precautions against those 3 pests especially)

If your friends plant is in flower you might want to consider Mite X which you'll probably have to go to a nursery to find. It only cost me $9 for a 32oz ready to use spray bottle. It worked good on Thrips, but didn't kill their eggs, I just took those leaves off (only 1 plant was really infected, I caught them before they got established too good).

You can use that stuff up until the day of harvest (it's organic) and the horticulturist at my local nursery said she got rid of spider mites on this huge flowering bush they have in their parking lot with 1 application. You should still remove the eggs (& webs of course) from the plants after treatment.

Go to Home Depot and pick up 1500 live ladybugs. They cost about $3.00 and release them in the grow room. Ladybugs eat other bugs that are smaller then them and will not mess with your plants.

Cool, I didn't even know you could buy them. How long will they live without a food supply (if no infestation already exists)?

No ladybugs are carnivorous bugs they search out and eat mites and aphids. I also wanted to add that once you do get rid of the bugs take a clove of garlic peeled and put one in each one of the planters you are using. This will keep mites and aphids and pretty much all of the more dangerous bugs of the cannabis plant. :bigjoint:

Thanks man, I did a lot of research on this and I'll be getting lady bugs as soon as I get some screening and block off my humidier and portable a/c intake, and anything else I can think of where I don't want them to get to. I can't think of a better preventative measure, plus if I'm gonna be recommending them to anyone with an infestation.

Just so you know what you started. lol http://www.my-grow.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=731

Thanks again +rep
