Cheap Carbon Filter (maybe)

I was wondering if I could use this http://www.homedepot.com/p/AC-Safe-CarboStat-Air-Conditioner-Filter-AC-337/100122671#customer_reviews and cut it to put in my duct work with my exhaust fan to act as a carbon filter?

My advice:

Buy a real carbon filter.

Don't try to get away with half-assed measures when it comes to your security and possibly freedom.

You need active carbon to eat up the smell anyway, that filter would clean the dust out of the air only.

You can however build something to house this:

I have been using their carbon filters for 5 years.
A 6" tallboy of theirs lasted me 2 1/2 years.

I think I will build a carbon filter with an in-line duct fan. I like to DIY stuff.
