Cheap and Cheerful DIY using Citizen cobs

1818 is probably my least favorite.

1212 and cxm22 are the best bang for the buck that i have. if you want to go big (100+ W/cob), 1825 is a good choice
Oh wow haha, I guess I was way off about your preferences lol! Thanks for confirming! I'd definitely prefer more of the smaller voltage COBs!

How do the cxm22 and 1212 stack up against each other PAR-wise? I believe you gave the edge to the cxm22 but their spectral chart isn't super clear so it's difficult to judge; they only specify the 3000k 90 and 97 CRI, and the rest are just dubbed "cool white" "warm white" ect, so it's hard to tell what line is for what color temp and what CRI model because they aren't really labeled.

I mainly ask, because I see you're out of stock for the 3500k 90 CRI 1212s... Any idea when you might get more in?

(I'm attaching a pic of the chart so no one has to go hunting)

hello I did something of very stupid. I tested my 1212 cob before applying them on the heat sink. after about 10 seconds backlighting i saw some smoke from COBS...of course i ready unplugged the power, the cobs were quite hot to the touch. Do i irreparabily damaged their efficiency and factory performances in your opinion, with just a few seconds without heatsink?:wall:
any old light meter or phone app will tell you if the cob is any less bright than its neighbors
Hi Bobby, actually all of my five 1212 may be in the same situation(some seconds plugged unmounted from any heatsink or fan), I've got a cheaperdigital luxmeter but because all cobs could be damaged i think would be useles, is there any test could I do to be sure my cobs are at there 100% of efficency? I think a killawatt can t help me Isn' t it?.any suggest Please?
thanx!!

My 5pcs 1212 draw 260w from wall, drived by a hlg-240h-c1400B considering a 94% driver efficiency at full power your test seems different from mine..my 1212 should run at 48.8w each oneatfull power.
