Chauvin Trial

As I understood, in minnesota if the defendant caused someone's death while committing a crime they are guilty of murder wether they intended to kill the person or not.
The law is the law, so I cannot argue with the verdict, but that's fucking bizarre. Intent should always be the difference between murder and manslaughter.

Not up on the laws down there but upon appeal would he be allowed out till it’s heard? I’m sure there will be an appeal so I doubt this is over sadly :(.

I don’t believe so. I was just going to post this in this thread:

Now that Derek Chauvin has been convicted, here’s what happens next
Sentencing, a civil trial, and appeals.

This may help. Second degree murder is, it seems, variable in Minnesota.

nope..remanded to custody until at which time you hear 'not guilty'. an appeal takes time and i believe has to be accepted- you just don't get one, you have to apply for it and most states are like this.

I think he exhibited intent
When he refused to let him up till he stopped breathing
you have to listen very carefully to the audio.

Mr. Nelson lied while talking right over it.

Mr. Chauvin had his ticket punched and he's not going anywhere.

i thought it was really weird how his eyes darted back and forth while the judge was reading the verdict. i can't figure out what he was looking at.

the jurors of all backgrounds, race and age had the courage to come together and do what the citizens wished they could have done that day (if only for the fear) and put this to rest- for all of us.

Even after the guilty verdict the 100 or so die hard thugs running amok in Portland felt the need to go on another vandalism spree last night. Breaking windows and being stupid. They even broke windows of businesses that had BLM posters on them.

Why would it be surprising that any nazi can just dress up in black and blend in and do the violence you kept saying was 'ANTIFA'? Lending 'credibility' to Trump's scam of using their brandname to scare people into thinking the right wing idiots are somehow a good idea for America.

Edit: I do appreciate your sticking to 'thugs' though.

OMG

they broke windows? Oh the humanity.

This doesn't have anything to do with the 6,000 cases of police brutality that were perpetrated on civilians last summer. Or the fact that fascists are still on the force and there has been little sign of change on the force.

Portland has a problem with fascists on the police force. It's been that way forever. If you want the protests to stop, then address that.

Yes I know you need to file an appeal same as here but wasn’t sure if you remained in custody or it was the courts discretion to allow you to leave custody as it is here.
