I am sure many people are aware of the voting going on at change.gov.

A very smart man took a good amount of time to write up this idea!

(Create the ATFM! The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Marijuana)

I ask that everyone take a minute to visit the link bellow and vote his idea up, followed by spreading the word of this vast movement.

I won't. There needs to be a lot less departments of anything. Fuck them, fire the dea and the atf and homeland security and just make the things we need work like they should. CIA and FBI and etc etc is enough. Fat stupid bloat, that's all those extra taxes would go to.

I'm jumping on board with OMeds. Last thing we need is another govt agency. They will totally feck it up.

I concur with OM and Boneman. Less government is the answer. Cannabis was legal not too long ago. Make it so again. Re-legalize it. Even with the onerous taxes related to regulation, it will be cheaper than prohibition prices.

Then stand back as all that money currently spent in the black market is legitimized and infused into the economy.

Stand back as all that taxpayer money diverted to house and feed non-violent drug (cannabis) offenders is spent on actual criminals.

Stand back as industrial hemp once again resumes its rightful place in our economy providing fiber, fuel, and food.

All it takes is political will and the courage to stand up to the 'Just Say No' crowd.

As much as I don't want to say it, legalization is not going to happen like people are expecting/wanting. I am shocked though, I thought this would be very popular! oh well... I shall continue to spread the word!

do you really want weed in the goverments hands ? imagine the tax you will end up paying on it in the future , id rather they just said we wont arrest you for small grows or a small amount in your possesion , but obviousley wont allow profit /dealing of it .
i dont know , i just dont like the idea of ANYONE making money from the weed , i wish they would just leave me alone and let me grow my own medicine in peace .if everyone was allowed to grow a few plants of there own then there would be no need for dealers or the goiverment wouldnt get controll over it , everyone could just grow what they needed .

Again, I agree with you fully. Although, It just does not seem plausible at this point in time. I'd be satisfied if any of the related ideas are made into policy. I just feel this idea has the best chance.

let em tax it. none of us should care WE'LL still have our own and we wont have to be scared to have a couple of plants around. think of the monster plants you could grow if you werent confined to just a closet.

The only problem I could see with that would be that the government would likely set the price for cannabis too high and you could get it cheaper illegally.

And to those who oppose another government agency, do you really think that the government will legalize it and not try to control it still? They will want every penny of the profits.

Perhaps. Some states are tax stamp states now. In Texas, the tax is $3.50 a gram. However, if the political momentum is there to legalize it, those issues will fall by the wayside. Some states will tax heavily to keep cannabis illegal on a practical level, other will realize the benefit of reasonable tax rates.

Over half the cost of a bottle of whiskey is embedded Federal taxes. Then the state hits you up for sales tax when you purchase. Re-legalization will result in a similar scenario.

for weed to be legal alot of things about the u.s. need to change. the people here need to realize when there being brainwashed [like those retarded above the influence comercials] and educate themselves instead of letting dr. phill play teacher. the 'image' weed has been given needs to change more people need to know marijuanas true potential, like how it can be used for making fuel, fiber, food, and a really good high. the dea shouldnt have any control over weed [no one should]. it should be treated the same as any plant hell salvia is legal and i had an out of body experience on that shit. ive also smoke cigarettes and drank since i was 13 [now 18]. they're legal but terrible for your health and i know it but it is my choice. i know im gonna die some day probably sooner than later but i dont give a fuck. so why should weed be illegal?
