cfls vs long fluorescents?

Silk is right-you need to get a hps ballast to run both Hps/mh bulbs. Just to clear thing up a bit. The higher # of kelvins ie6700k is your blue spectrum=vegg light, early summer sky. The lower k ie3000k is more red/yellow spectrum=flower=late summer sky. Whereami- Its more then just watts and lumen its spectrum too. To get the best bud poss, blue light to vegg, red light to flower. Thats why you go hps to flower. You can use both spectrums throughout-thats what I do. Cfls and floro tubes are the same thing different shape. I recomended the T-5's because I love them and they work great. Mine were cheaper then 150 for the entire hydro kit and light. So really your choice. Vegg w/cfl-get lowes hps security light to flower, whatever is best for you bro. Happy growing!

yeah, i think HO T-5's are the best flouro out right now. the ballasts and bulbs are more money than T-12's but if you can swing it i think its the way to go.

that being said, i currently use 6 - 4' 40w t-12's for veg and they work just fine, but im gonna get some T-5's someday...

you growing that girl with DWC? ive been considering going DWC instead of ebb n flow.

ive never flowered with flouro's, i have a 400w hps for flower. ive been thinking about doing a scrog with cfl's strictly for shits and giggles.

Did this one in dirt, shitty water here, found out hard way. Already had germed so dirt last min. Vegg and flower 2" T-5. Not too shabby huh? Dwc just seemed easiest when started hydro'n, water, bubbles, light grow. No pumps, sprayers, fittings to deal w/ easy.IMO.

yeah, thats REAL nice for only 2 t-5's. i only have a small personal grow now, but i used to do a big sog and i used a 8x4' t-5 for clones. i wish i still had that light, i would be killer in my current veg room.

Yea, gotta love T-5's, they range from 2 foot 2 bulb, to 4' eight bulb, when I had 2 seperate rooms, I switched some bulbs around, only 1 3000k bulb in vegg, and 1 6500k in flower, more of what they needed at their time. I only do personal grows, never have enough to sell. Started this last one with 4 and only 1 female. Wanted 2 but never know till 12/12, with bagseed. Might try some lowrider something next grow. Still sketchy of buying seeds online with cc and all.

Oh thanks Silky, sorry. These are 8000 lumen each, so 16000 lumen for the one plant is plenty.
