just had a few questions about cfls and fluorescents
what would be better___ I Q, you A
Q: is a 4 foot floro or 6 mounted cfls better for vegging?* if cfls what kind of bulbs?
Q: i plan to use side lighting for budding along with my hps on top. i was thinking of hanging 2 four foot shop lights on left and right walls of the budding cycle area, or 4, 2 foot shop lights in there,
or * all for budding
just make a couple cfl fixtures * probably 3 , double headed fixtures for a total of 6 side lights for budding.. which would be the most efficient on growth and cheaper on electric bill?

here is link to current set up to help understand
right now top shelf is vegging where the 4 foot floro is( or where 6 cfls should be )
then below ill have hps and and side lighting
thanks for all the input.

if i go cfl for both vegging and budding side lighting be a total of 12 cfl bulbs * would this show a trace on electric bill even ?, 6 would be 12/12 other 6 would be 16/8.

i know both are suppose to very cost efficient but is one more then the other?

and if i wanna use cfl or floros for side lighting for budding cycle what spectrum or watt, bulb would i need for each setup* cfl and floro.

i know its alot of questions just thought i would ask:-?

I vote CFL's too.. CFL > Reg Floro's.

A few of the pics I have been seeing, with peoples results under CFL's are not bad at all.

shoot for 4100k-6500k for veg and 2700k for flower and definately go with CFL's. They are far more efficient.

I am a big fan of T5...less heat, not so much less heat but heat that is spread over larger area, if space is an issue and you have plenty of ventilation CFL are better..CFL do not loose strength, I throw the T5 out after each season. P.S. If some salesman at a hydroshop (being the typical lying sales fucks that they are) tells you that either puts off no heat I am here to tell you that in a small non ventilated area you can cook a turky with either.

cfl lights give off plenty of heat. if u place cfl light near a nice bud and it touchs the light and burns it ur going to be pissed. if ur not going to put the lights close dont even bother. ur better off buying mylar. 6 cfl lights will raise ur room temp pretty much if its small.

lol ya the hps already makes it pretty hot stays at about 80-90
how close would the lights have to be *both cfls and floros* to even help the budding process?
i was thinking of a few cfls between my plants but idk how that would work.
i just feel the 400 watt hps isnt enough light for my 6 plants, pretty much all the sides are not getting good hit of light. and would be nice if i could rig up something to help this if it will even make a big difference when i start to flower
thanks for all the info so far!
