never tried to flower with cfls, been using hps for too long
but i do want to try it one day, nice pics from both you guys
i use cfls for mothers have done for a few years now, i still use MH for my main veg area
i can see that when the cfls are very close they do give a very good intense light although the footprint is not very big
so i would expect them to not be as efficient as hps, but i believe they can grow good fat buds,
and your pics show this :) they are perfect i think for starting out, smaller grows where heat would be an issue etc etc

peace :)

What u said....and i honestly believe the cfls give off a better spectrum than the MH...mixing the spectrum is key...and closeness.

With the right cfl set up u can get frosty dank....nice size too
Yep, over 7ft indoors with t5 and cfl on 1 girl. 1st was in scrog grow.
Averaging 3to6 per plant depending on strain and veg time.

Looks good man! Im not knocking it but a 600w hps may out perform it. Maybe not lol. All I know is that I started with 600 hps's, now on 1k's and my garden couldnt be happier. I couldnt imagine pulling a lb with 1k worth of cfls. Do you have to adjust bulbs daily?

Anyways pics look great, its working for you so keep it up!

you could be right about spectrum, for me i like the lack of heat, it is simple to put a cfl in any cupboard etc, and you have another mother cabinet
or more room for clones etc, the cost is minimal not having to bother with fans and shit as i would with mh

although for pure speed and power the 600 MH take some beating when it comes to vegging, the added heat from these 3x 600 MH bulbs is beneficial to growth speed at this stage also
i normally veg for 3 weeks tops and can produce plants over 1lb strain dependent of course with hps

when i give it a go, i will try a screen of green and try to keep the colas around 8inch to 1ft max , i think this is the best way for cfls, they have very good light but for only 6inch or so worth
of good penetration compared to hps

peace :)

I left the bulbs in place but had to adjust plants daily...until stretching stopped....don't get me wrong when I can go hps I will...but for a small set up and space issues cfls are the shit...I don't even have a closet.. grow spaces are little set ups hidden in my garage...I have somewhat a normal life so stealth is in play...even if I had a closet I'd throw a 600w hps in there...I'm a firm believer in overloading w light....I've got 650 actaul cfl Watts in a 3foot wide 2foot deep 4foot tall space....its working great tho....so bottom line is if stealth/space and heat are issues cfls are the way to go....if u got some room by all means you'll flower better w hps...but I'd still veg w cfls
