CFL: Too close = heat stress stunted growth/hermie?

I have 125 watt feliz cfl's put out 7000lumens each.

I'm wondering if putting these lights too close can cause stress / turn a plan into a hermie Also possible stunted growth?

Anyone with a lot of experience notice it's better to leave the light a little further out to not stress it? like say an inch minimum or 1.5 minimum... I'm probably about 3/4's of an inch away


Also repeatedly burning leaf tips with the light, can this cause stunted growth/hermie?

they say as close as you can without burning the plant so i would move them away just a bit untill they are not burning the plant

as far as hermie i dont know

When using CFLs last time, I found that at one inch was the optimal distance... they didn't burn, but grew at a crazy rate and there ended up being a lot of light repositioning that took place.
