yea im thinking up supplementing my 400 watt hps/mh with a hanging cfl for my 4x4 closet , my question is is there a big difference between the products marketed as "cfl grow lights" and simply compact florescent lights, i have lots of CFLs but non of them are specifically labeled as grow lights.....is there even a diffrence?

If you're using it as supplementary lighting you can just get regular CFLs. Pay attention to the kalvin rating and lumins.
~6500k cool white is for veg
~2700k warm light is for flowering.

The bulb package will till you which one it is but some packages won't tell you both sets of info (kalvin and cool/warm light)
