Cfl recommendations, veg and bloom non-autos in stealth grow

Need recommendations on what lights to use, an then what to add for my 12/12s. Will be clone/short vegging in a PC, then transfer to a two Rubbermaid stacked scrog unit. I plan to hydro and would like to grow 2 plants a time in my unit. Light medical user(mostly afternoons and evenings for my FMS), but would not mind my ladies producing nicely :bigjoint:thanks for your shared wisdom :peace:

For veg I would go with either 4 socketed cfl's (daylight) or mini tubed cfl lamps depending on the computer case. Make sure to get daylight or 6700k bulbs for veg.

Bloom I Would recommend if going the CFL route to go to Home Depot and purchase the large reflectors with ceramic sockets and largest cfl you can find there they are usually huge bloom kelvin bulbs in the light section. At least 1 per plant, I would shoot for 2. You can position these vertically if you want on days to produce sidelight without the reflectors. And can move about on the top of the canopy. These allow for accommodating various heights.

Large tubes can be uses 4fts work great but can be a pain if one plant is a short indica and the other a large sativa. I like to use those for side light, preferably the 2 ft and the large CFLS for top.

You could also make a collage of Y splitter socket adapters to attack to a grid that would work as well.

I could also add the 2,700k to the 6,500 and have both running in hoods for the flower. Or I can swap out the bulbs

use 6500k's for vegg... 2700k for flower... don't use anything in between 2700k and 5000k anything in between doesn't work well

use CFL's tubes are a pain unless you have the room...... Home DEpot has cfl but ive never seen the 6500k in HD try your local grocery store or Walmart

also when you switch to 12/12 remember that your plant will almost double in size


you do it correctly you can have this.

do not use foil or reflectors made of aluminium they reflect heat not light..

Mylar reflects light


i would use HPS but it shoots my bill up .. CFL's only shoot it up 15-20 a month

in a smaller space use the smaller wattage for less heat out put. it helps keep my area cooler i run 8 23watts 2700k for one plant 17" tall. not looking for a massive out come but just something for my self, as a first grow thing.
next time ill go at it with my guns drawn.

LED are cool and do a good job from what i've seen, brother in law had a nice afgan gold under a 90w UFO light. but CFL for at the moment cost, was best for me. especially a first time grower, dont want to drop lots of $$ for something that could die or be a male.

After more readin I am thinking cfl is my best bet for inexpensive grow, and growing plants that are not auto flower. What size grow room were you in with your 8?

more little guys is better than 1 big 2oo watter.
Less heat, generally are higher L/watt than big bulbs.
You have more freedom to place them around the plant and you will notice that CFLs
DO NOT penetrate foliage very well.
10 23w 6500 and 2700K's will give you a nice personal grow

currently I have....
(in flower)
2x 32w
2x 29w
2x 23w
1x 4100k 45w
1x 13w

i use the 4100k to help promote sugar generation in photo phase but all rest 2700s are for fatty bud growth.

2 dwarf plants should give me 2oz

im still running it, its my closet along with my shirts lol, its about 35" wide, and 40" depth and its 8' tall but my hanging like makes the plant think its only 2.5 foot tall lol so its a midget plant.
i poped in 2 more 42 watt 2700k cfls for extra light. my plant hasn't done much so i assume its starting to get thicker buds so i add more light ;D
