Ok I see some people have them facing down, some have them sideways.Heres my question Im making a reflector for 16 32w CFLs what would be the best mounting position to use?I want the light to spread out a bit and shine down. Thanks in advance for any answers.+ rep For good technical advice.

set it up so they are on their side's the light coming from the side of the bulb is almost 100% brighter then what comes out of the TOP of the bulb. you can look at it yourself I can almost not look directly at a daylight 26w cfl but from the top it's no problem. hang them on the sides with some good reflective material on the top to keep bouncing that side light down. spread them over whatever surface area you intended. they can be spaced a couple inches apart or nice and close and tight, depending on your style of grow.

and if you want you can hang a couple vertically along your reflector, just to keep some of the light on the lower parts of the canopy, hanging them vertically will of course be giving off side lighting, which is key and i'm done! :)

this is a good setup, no don't turn it sideways, hang it vertically above the plants, this is a good setup because the lights are angled so that the side of the lights is somewhat above the canopy with good reflection,

meaning hang it like a light so that the bulbs are above the tops of the plants with the reflector pointing down onto the tops also.

i voted vert ... when i used cfls they were alway at an angle over my plants with the bulb side always on the the plants ( usually wedged between two plants) your losing a shitload of light if you just hang them horizontally.. having said that.... You can still grow a beautiful plant with a 65 watt cfl hovering horizontal
