CFL Hempy Bucket Questions/Help....

Well I started a thread for this already but last night they rolled back the forum? But ya all my threads were deleted so here I am.


I'm in the process of building my box and supplies are on the way from online dealers.


Box is 4' tall x 3' wide x 3' long. I have 1 x 42w 6500k, 1x 68w 2700k and 7 x 23w 2700k. I know I should have more 6500k bulbs but this is what I'm working with for now. I figured I would just veg for a week and should be fine maybe not use so many 2700ks for veg? I have about 4 to 6 more 23w 2700k's that I could use later when I get more wiring and what not. Funds have been limited which is why I'm going with the CFL's. As for medium I'm gonna be doing a hempy bucket. Perlite/Coco mix not sure if I should do 50 50 or more coco more perlite? I have general hydroponics nutrients flora micro and flora bloom as well as botanicares cal mag. Was gonna go with the lucas formula. In 3 gal buckets. No ph meter or ppm meter, just a g.h. ph up & down solution kit. Ill have 3 120mm pc fan for intake/exaust. Box walls spray painted flat white. Ill be doing paper towl method to crack seeds and putting them into rockwool 1.5" cubes, then when rutes show through the bottom ill put tem into 16oz. Party mini hempys, then to final 3gal bucket.

Sweet the pic worked well see if it works again when my box is done. The seeds are reserva privada 6 purple wreck feminized. Plus their birthday promo seeds then 2 ufos dinafems white widow feminized and g 13 labs purple haze feminized.

Ya kinda weird what happend last night. Ya mine came yesterday. Pics weren't working but when I croped them a lil they were small enough to post. Ya I can't wait to get this box done but not sure how I wanna do the door. My box is pretty ghetto though I must say. Scrap wood, cardboard, blck ducktape and caulk. Lol! But I think its gonna work. Junt not sure how to make the door light tight.

So I thought my online orders would be here sooner but imma be waiting until next week. Oh well leave me time to ponder how I'm gonna make the door light tight as well as for the fans I'm gonna put in.

ghetto is fine sometimes as long as it works... i have a pretty ghetto cab myself but it works for germs and small veg then i move to the closet...

Ya its not too bad for what I had to work with. Can't waituntil everything here and I can crack some beans.

Subbd, the 2700k should be fine, what are the outside room temp that your box is going to be in, and what is the cfm of the fans? That many cfl might be a heat problem I know how Hott that 68 watt gets( that baby pushes 4200 lumens)

120cfm 2 for exhaust 1 for intake. And its my bedroom so ill have an ac unit in before to long as well. So fans total 360cfm and ill have a small desk fan blow on the plants as well. But I keep my house pretty warm in the winter so when the heats on it like 75 degrees cuz I also have a space heater as well I live in the mid west we get pretty cold. But my ac unit should be good I would think. D how close have you been able to keep the 68w bulb to your plants?

Also anyone else with pointers on the coco perlite mix what % works for you, keep in mind I have no ph meter just the solution kit with the ph up & down.

I don't use coco so I couldn't tell u sorry, and as for the temps the ac is a must. In summer and fr your winter you will probably average around 84 in your cab if you outside room temp is 77. I average 84 with lights on but I do water. A bit more so there is no problem with that and if possible And where did u get the 120 cfm fans Cus I can't find them push that much air

Oh the 68 watt the closest I was able to get was 3 inches and that was with extreme heat stress checkout my cfl grow, my T5 grow got taken off so I need to redo it throw some pics of your setup for best advice, I'd honestly go around 8 inches with the 68 watt depending on temps

Once its setup I will be posting pics eveythings still coming together. Just having some issues on figuring out how to make my door and make it light tight.

is your cab wood? if so make sure all the wood is painted , you can use calking to seal all the corners and joints as for light tight for the door, make lips on the box, not the door and go to wally worls and get the sicky foam where the window plastic wrap and stuff like that would be and use some sort of locking mechanism to push it together. pr you could spend 109.99 like i did and get a tent

Ya I want a tent bad but gonna have to wait. That soundslike a plan thanks a lot +rep! Oh and the 120mm fans aren't 120 cfms ill have to look and find out what they are but I found them on amazon.

Those fans should do, but your temps still might be a little high but its ok if you water a tad more. Good luck growing and if you need any help just ask The community on RIU are more than willing to help.

Hell ya bro that cola on your cfl grow is crazy! How many watts altogether and how many plants? Good job through +rep! Ill be watering more then they average grow cuz the hempy so that's cool. I just want to know as much as possible before I start to germ.

Ya it is!! I also just got a knock on the door! The rest of my amazon order just got here! Now I can get back to work on the box! Updates on the box as soon as its finished with pics!
