CFL fixture ideas?

I am on my second grow using an AG classic and the hood is defo not tall enough. Wondering if anyone has plans for a decent fixture/stand setup to mount my CFL's on to. I'm about to start flowering and the original AG bulbs burned out long time ago, so I switched to Daylight and now the 42watt soft cfl's. There's no way I'm gonna drop $150 on the AG deluxe replacement hood, which is easy to clip the soft CFL's onto during flower. Any ideas?

Hey JD, not sure if this what you need, but here's my "ghetto-fabulous" light setup, total cost: $20. It will hold 6 CFL bulbs, check out more pics how I made it at my grow, hope this helps. Good luck man.

I have the same setup as concord dawn except I have two bathroom fixtures in mine for a total of 12 lights 6 6500k and 6 2700k and it kicks ass through the whole grow!!!
I guess great minds think alike!

Yep that's what I'm talking about. I've been seeing guys with 2-3 bulbs in a socket. I'm already using the same fixtures with the clips, how did you get them mounted to the board in that roaster pan?

That bathroom fixture idea sounds like a great idea. I may have to try that next time around. For now I'd like to modify the lights I already have into a ghetto hood like Concord's. :bigjoint:

if you can handle making your own fixtures and lining sockets sideways to fit your needs itll work out better. i tried vanity fixtures and splitters for my first go im regretting it. gonna be the first thing to change next round

i made all kinds of light fixtures during the 18 days of my first grow switched to the closet since my home made grow cabinet is too small for my 3 big pots after replant, so i was driving one day during trash day and saw a direct tv satilite dish on side of road and invisioned a nice hood for my cfl, directly in middle i drilled hole and put one splitter with two 300 watt cfl 2700k and the dish had four mounting holes for mounting bracket so i hung three 65w cfl just let wire hang until disired height was achieved and tied off makes for good light adjustment, thinking of takng down light out front in front of my garage hopefully its hps, probally metal hallide, and use the other dish hood for my flowering and still run cfls down the sides of plants for folliage, if not i will just ad more cfls for flowering, good luck with grow

Journey deep Cut a board the size of the bottom of the roaster pan and put it on the bottom of the roaster pan and then screw the fixtures to it .once you get all of the stuff you will figure it out!...sorry I am stoned..hope you understand this.

I just picked up a four socket vanity fixture (all our home depot had in stock) and am in the process of assembling the light. I've always questioned whether you are getting better use of the CFL's by hanging them sideways or at an angle? I see so many people using the bulb splitters with them point down at an angle

like this:

which direction is better for light penetration?

Right now I have them clipped on my ag base, with the bulbs sideways.

sorry man just saw this, subscribed now, LoL. the fixture comes apart and i just screwed the fixture through the turkey pan into the wood, you can take 2 of those pans and cut them in half and put 2 together for the longer fixture u got, heres sum pics, hope this helps, also, Spiral and Tube type CLFS emit LIGHT FROM THE SIDES, NOT THE ENDS OR TIPS.
