CFL closet grow help- first time grow!

What kinda yields could I potentially expect?- assuming some other details were also straightened out (air pots, nutrients, mylar wrapped walls, ect.)

Yeah save your money and get some standard CFLs from home depot.
We can't guess your yields without knowing anything your using, how you're doing it, or even what you're growing.

Sounds good! Im gonna do 3 different strains- Cheese, White cheese, and Afgan kush ryder. Definitely cfl to simplify the heat issues, but Id love any recommendations for light configurations and/or bulbs that would do well for those strains. The only nutes i planned to use is something for blooming/flowering... again, im open for any thoughts or opinions on that

hey OP check out my albums to get ideas going. for 75 bucks you could buy a ton of bulbs. the reflectors in that kit dont utilize the bulb as good as laying bulbs horizontal to the leaf canopy.
for more ideas with cfl growing check out http//www.pcgrowcase.com that is where i came up with my fridge set up and the cupboard setup
both were auto strains btw

Good question. The norm for CFL's is do 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower, but I've seen some mixed half and half or say 70% 6500k-30% 2700k for veg and vice versa. It's all preference. And i prefer the latter. I think a nice mix of full spectrum keeps the plants happy and bushy without too much stretching or loose nodes. But it's really your personal opinion you'll gain from experience.

As far as nutes go, I love my fox farms line up. But recently I've just used some nice balanced organic soil, Big Bloom towards the beginning of flowering, and molasses/water towards the end.

When doing organic soil however, doing as many different mediums as you can get your hands on is great: Perlite, compost, coco fiber, guano, bone meal, castings are just some examples.

NGBG, Thanks ill check that out as it sounds right up my alley! And ch33se, that helps a lot, I was also gonna do a 70/30 or 60/40 mix of a light soil and perlite, but I for got about those other mediums. also, is the molasses/water towards the end part of the flush? Ive read more than a few times on here people regreting flushing their plant after discovering it diminished their yields

If you were to flush you would do it afterwards, but I wouldn't recommend flushing unless you think you have too much nute buildup or your plants growth was seriously stunted before flowering because then your roots probably aren't drinking. The molasses just supplies the plant with carbs and feeds microbes in the soil. Result is stickier and more dense buds. Make sure to keep it approximately 1 tbsp per gallon tho

Yeah read everything he talks about growing with cfls on the www. pcgrowcase.com page. It helped answer all of my questions. After take a look at his simple set ups. Read what each box comes with. You can purchase everything on your own at Home Depot and build it yourself in less than an hour for 1/3 of the price of the boxes they sell. (Also need screws, duct tape, glue gun and scissors) His information he gives away is worth more than the boxes he sells. I would recommend getting an inline duct fan and a carbon filter because even 1 plant can stink out an entire house if grown under the right conditions. A good example is the auto berry in my album. Good luck.

8 sq ft to be fair you need a far far larger light for tight nugs
even a 250w hps would be to small IMO a 400w hps would be ideal at 50w psf
but make sure your extractor is decent
you would want about 25% more than that in cfl

Ive got about a $450 budget for light setup, so ive actually been thinking about going with a 1000w hps in a home made tent in the basement.. definitly would do a through and through cooling/ventilation setup using inline fans and duct work.. Figured that might blast the hell outta some auto's for the dense buds im definitely looking the get.. any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks fellas, keep the help coming!

the 1.2mx1.2m of 4ftx4ft would be perfect for a 1000w to be fair i have 600w and there pretty nice 9 plants in a 3.5x3.5ft up to 4x4ft if you wanted some working space tent will give you some dense bud don't you worry just buy a nice shade.
