Those thing are going to get rootbound before they are done flowering and you are not doing yourself any favors by doing that
Go down to your local nusery and spend the 3 dollars a pot for something worth while or cut a 2 litre bottle in half and use that if you want so save some cash
Those plants need room for the roots to grow
Did you ever see a picture of 12 people trying to get into a phone booth, that what is happening with your roots
Tcurtiss is right. I learned about Root Bound the hard way, my yield dropped significantly and also had nutrient problems all the way to the finish line. If you cant afford the height for bigger pots you can make really wide pots from all sorts of containers. poke some holes in the bottom and your Good to go! roots will love the extra room to explore.If your going through the risk, time, & effort you might as well make sure your not screwing yourself by skimping on containers
If your going to do something do it right
They may get routbound in those guys as well but you will soon find out one way or another
