Ceramic MH GE vs. Phillips

Call and ask them and you might get a deal on them. They said they have had them for a while.

Weird there is so much trouble getting bulbs reliably. I guess no one has access to a good stock.
check out the link I posted. i bought 3 bulbs from bulb america and had to return all 3. Got 3 from advanced with no issues.

Every time I emailed advances tech to ask them a question. It took them a week to reply. They emailed me back the same question I asked and without even answering my question. That's annoying and frustrating.

Ok, so the sales tactics and prices on this website seemed a little fishy...so I called and left messages 3 times and got no reply. Obviously, I did not do business with them. I have not been able to find any shop that sells the Phillips bulb along with a complete lighting system. I ordered a 150watt Phillips bulb from 1000bulbs to replace a hps bulb in a mini-sunburst system; the sales department assured me that it was compatible, but it was not, and I ended up paying $18 shipping to return a $25 item. Does anyone know where to get the Phillips CMH as part of a system, or where to get the bulbs from a reliable source? I have been getting my GEs from HTG for $189 shipping included, and they are excellent(the lamps AND the sales team), however I really want to try this side-by-side comparison.
Not a damn thing wrong with advancedtechlighting.com. Not sure what makes you think it's fishy, people have been using that website for years. They go into great detail about all their products and even pre-burn lamps for you. Do you think hyroot would refer you to a scam?

From what I've read the GE lamps are garbage and Philips is the only way to go when it comes to CMH lamps.

Never had a problem with advanced, everytime I email them I get a prompt response and have talked with them over the phone several times.

Well, I can assure you that the GES are definitely NOT garbage. My buds are bigger, denser and earlier than ever before. I call any business who doesn't return multiple phone calls a little fishy. Their prices are half the other guys prices and they operate under 3 different names. Just seems well... fishy. That is why I asked this question in the first place; to see if anyone else has dealt with them and Im hearing both positive and negative things about them. There is SO much misinformation on this subject. If Advanced ever calls me back , I will try ordering a bulb from them and see how it goes, but Im not putting my credit card number into a dummy website without an actual person behind it. It is WAY too easy to get ripped off in this game because growing marijuana is illegal and there is no recourse that a consumer can take without arousing some sort of suspicion.

Growing MJ is only illegal some place(not mine) but buying a HID light is not. HAving bub buying problems shouldn't be happening because it is assocaited with growing. You can take any company to claims if you pay and they do not deliver.
DNA lighting is cool because they have a special digital for their cmh(which are phillips all starts)...but stock off the shelf phillips all start and a cheap mag ballast is just as good and way cheaper.

Here is a good grow. He just got 3 860w in OG hood. (2)860cmh and (1)1000hps for flower. 1 860cmh in og hood for veg. I am really jealous of his setup.

I too was looking into this type of bulb and kinda went off the idea a while ago cause of my main concern!!
Can you use this bulb for the entire growing cycle veg/flower or will l just stick to MH-veg - HPS-flower

you can use it all the way through veg wand flower. I loved CMH. I can't wait to get them again.

about buying bulbs
I'm very weary of where I'm buying bulbs. I'm on a very tight budget this time around. I can't afford to get screwed. I've had good and bad experiences just about every where that I have shopped. Its almost hit or miss

its kind of like when you find that really awesome mechanic that hooks you up. Then after the 3rd or 4th time you bring your car in. He doesn't want to work on it. So he says there's nothing wrong. Then your car goes to shit.... Then the process repeats...

Yes the CMH should be used throughout the life cycle of the plant. I am definitely interested in hearing more about these digital ballast CMHs, and the 860watt CMHs. I have never heard of these before. Quick Question that I overlooked earlier: Does the All-Start 330 operate on a magnetic MH or HPS ballast? The GE runs on HPS.

Allstart 330's run on an mh mag or switchable mag no straight hps.

I emailed DNA asking about them. Advanced tech has the 315w elite agro with e ballast(240v-270v only) But the elite agro bulbs are e37, where at DNA and greenbeams they are t6. The DNA bulbs are allstart 860 and elite agro rebranded. I think the DNA ballasts may be able to run on 120v. I hope so...

I loved them. The light is white. Its like being outside. 2 330's matched bud size to my 1000 hps I had and much better quality than hps. Cmh have far more red and deep red, higher cri, and higher par. My place was robbed and I lost everything. I moved and I'm borrowing t5's. They are a week into flower..... So I need to get on it. But waiting for a little more loot.

with hid. I will only do CMH. Other than that par t5 or led.

I got email back from DNA. They are a major rip off. The 330's run on 240v only. The 900 runs on 120/240. 100hz-200hz. All digital ballast

330...........................$550
dual 330 (1 ballast).....$650
900...........................$750

ballast -5 year warranty, bulbs 2 year warranty.

ima buy ballast from growers house (cheapest) and I found a few places selling allstart 330 on amazon for good prices. Amazon has great customer service. When my kindle got jacked. Amazon shut it off and made it a paper weight. They sent me all kinds of options for free this that or discounts on orders since my kindle was stolen.

Can't preach the Philips Retro White...NOT GE...CMHs enough! Rock hard frostiness guaranteed!!! I have four 400 watters and can't ever see myself go back to any MH or HPS. I've tried the Horti blue, Ushio conversion MH, and it even beats a 400w HPS. Go to that advancedlighting link from earlier post. I always call and talk to Tom. He'll answer all ?s and talk some more lol. He'll hook you up too. Look at that spectrum!

To subscribe to a thread, click on thread tools and then subscribe to thread. I was crunched for time and money , so I ordered another GE from HTG and it came 2 days later! As I slowly expand/upgrade, I will be adding a Phillips 330 to replace the 3 150w HPS's I am currently using in another chamber. I am going to order the ballast and bulb separately as most of the retailers I come across want $300+ for a complete system. It looks like I can put one together for about $200 which is what I paid for the GE's. Its so weird... the light looks completely white, but it is a well-balanced spectrum, and the plants just totally LOVE it. Looking at the side-by-side comparison, the Phillips has the better spectrum, but the GE has WAY more lumens, a longer life and more IR/UV. I am still eager to try the Phillips, I just had to use another GE this go-round. Again, I WILL vouche for the GE CMH. It is a legit grow-light, and FAR superior to a standard HPS. My Blueberry girls went from a 10-week plant to a 9-week plant and became more potent as well. Trichome production is out of this world! If the Phillips truly IS better, then I am super-pumped to see what it does... but it will have to wait a few months.

Hi: Rusty
I thought y`all gave up on this thread !!!
Thanks just figured out the subscribe thingi
Yep I have a side by side comparison myself of Philips Vs Ge
You see l will be running vertical bare buld so saftey is first so had to go open fixture protected(Philips)
Yeah the Ge has from the specs 6200 lumen's more but the buld life not sure of you see l bought the vertical Philips bulb which seems to have 20,000 hrs life(same as the Ge) where the horizontal Philips seems to have 15,000 hrs
Hope to get word of shipping by the weekend
From what you have said the buds should be killer
But alot of people on RIU seem to be still negative on CMH for flowering
As l said if l get another grow goin after my current one it will all be CMH(if l get my bulbs)hehe I will try start a journal to document the grow and dispell the myth(hopefully) that CMH kicks ass in flowering
