caterpillar bug thing gone ate ma baby

Emergency!
Found four leaves eaten and this little bastard who is now thoroughly dead. I have cut the half eaten leaves off but now I'm staying stressing about my bug problem. What is this?
Is it okay now I have removed him?
What can I do to prevent any of his little bug mates turning up and munching the rest of my baby?
