I'm sure you could replace your 2k HPS with 1200w of COB no problem. The wattage isn't as big as deal as the actual strength of the light, which is rated in par/ppfd/umole values. The benefit of COBs is that they are more efficient and take less power to get the same results. Because of the efficient they last much longer also, and you can also mess around with mixing different spectrums of light. The biggest thing is that they are much more expensive up front. Like you said, experiments for down the road. Well worth the money though in my opinion.

Man I'd love some 3x5 plates. Im still stuck using a hair straightener with lock n grip pliers! I can only press about 0.8 at a time. 200 - 210f for 2min and I get some beautiful material. I have three different penis of my Kosher Kush I run, but one in particular is a great rosin and edibles maker. Average 24% from rosin. Also takes less trim for same strength edibles of my other penis. That's the pheno im keeping around while I run these Ice Cream Cake seeds.

The tank is pretty small on the infuser and I was worried at first but i havent had any issues yet with over stuffing it. I've put 16g of trim in with 5oz of butter with no problem. It holds 16oz of butter but if you try to put 2oz of trim for that I'm not sure it would all fit. My plan for that problem is to start making hash from the trim first. This way I can get the strength high, as well as have a better/cleaner tasting end product.

Also, for the rosin chips. I used 5oz of butter with an ounce of rosin chips and that batch of butter tested with 1500mg total. And I would say 90% of the chips were the same strain.

You can pick up a press and plates for around $450-500 tops. We got ours from Harbor Freight for under $200 and the plates off Amazon for $250. The plates came in a case, made kinda cheap but they heat great and get the job done. The press is pretty nice, Cat uses it for a lot more than pressing buds.

What kind of hash would you make to use in the Levo? Think the ISO would do for that or would it have to be dry hash? I'm pretty interested in that machine, I've had my eye on a magic butter machine for some time now but the Levo looks a lot less daunting (not as messy?) and I like the design. They sell the machine and tCheck as a combo on their website too, that's some pretty cool shit.

Here's the press and plates we have, like I said, it shouldn't set you back more than $500, with shipping and all. Obviously you'd want to pick the press up in person, I'd hate to see what shipping would be for that sucker :D

I like to make 2 pounds of butter at a time because I use the crock pot method and its a messy, messy job. I figure if I'm going to do all that work I might as well make big batches at a time. It'll be nice to make just enough for a recipe or two instead, and not have to freeze the butter for future use. I think it tends to lose potency that way, my baked goods don't seem as strong on subsequent batches.

Thanks, we're happy with it. We got that one (20 ton) from Harbor Freight on sale for $99. You should check them out if they are local for you.

Hey sorry I didn't get back to ya sooner, busy day yesterday.

Yeah I'll either buy or make a press. If I buy one it'll be a NugSmasher brand press. If I make one I'll use some caged Grey Fox heat plates and a harbor freight press. Pros and cons of each still deciding what I want to do.

Any type of hash/concentrate should work. Just make sure you decarb of course. With iso I'd get the butter warm first and the iso should melt right in.

The magic butter machine might be more appropriate for larger batches, but I have no experience with it. I think the Levo is just the higher end of all the infusing options. Being able to select exact temps and times, strains for you, it has a magnetic spinner to keep everything constantly mixing. None are necessary, but it will make your product the best it can be, even if it's by small amounts.

When I ordered the Levo and tCheck I did the bundle but they are coming out with the tCheck 2 by the end of the year, and I don't know if that's included in the bundle. The tCheck can test oil, butter, and alcohol, then give you a total cannabinoid strength. The tCheck 2 test oil, butter, alcohol, flower/buds, and concentrates. And it will give you separate totals for THC and CBC.

Both are great buys, and you'll feel 100% safe that your end product is of highest quality and strength. I like getting thr numbers and doing it the best I can so they were no brainers for me

No problem man, I get it. That's why you barely see me on much, I've only just gotten my workload down to the point I actually have some time to chill out..lol Hell, to tell you the truth, I started typing this message hours ago but stuff's kept coming up and taking me away from finishing.

It'll be closer to Christmas before I do anything on the machine but you've given me a lot to think on. I'm definitely thinking hard about getting one especially with the tCheck thing too. I'd feel a lot better about sharing my goods, for sure. I was a little worried when mine came out too strong but everyone else loves it. I'll be sure to share my results when I finally get to test it :)

I thought about making butter with the ISO but the fact that its ethanol kinda bothers me. I think I'd rather make it from Everclear if I'm going to put it in oil or butter, anything edible.

Yeah I'd say food grade ethanol or everclear made oils would work great for getting the doses higher. Iso should work but you are hoping you've extracted everything. Rosin would work great, as well as kief/dry sift, bubble/water hash.

tCheck is defiantly a well worth it investment. At least in my eyes. Has helped me and my own dosing a ton. 100mg is good for me to still function and run about.

Oh yeah the ISO is very potent, its GG#4 quick wash (1 only). It's nearly clear when you first scrape it (until it goes in the silicone jar) then it turns into a darker, browner but still shattery texture. The stuffs so smooth you don't realize how fucked up you are till you stand up..lol

Everything is definitely extracted and pure, all the alcohol is cooked/evap'd off till its just a clear "sheet" on the bottom of the Pyrex dish. Gotta be careful scraping it too, shit will fly everywhere man! Cat's decided to try the silicone mats on the next batch he makes. I can see how the tCheck would be a good investment, like I was saying. I don't worry much about us on dosing but it would make me feel a lot better about sharing my creations with friends. When I figured it up by the grade and amount of flower and trim I used (2 ounces total herb to 5 sticks of real salted butter) my cookies averaged around 180 mg each. Yeah buddy...not for the faint of heart NOR anyone that isn't used to edibles from the start. A friend of ours in Cali said one of my cookies put his 300lb buddy down for 12 hours straight. When I ate one, I thought I was going to have a heart attack or something and asked Cat to take me to the emergency room..LOL needless to say I recovered just fine, no ER visit. All I needed was to sleep it off. Now it takes two cookies and they just barely get me to that full body high but not too high so I can either hang out and relax or go to bed. Either way I'm set.

That Levo is going to be perfect for making other stuff like medicated gummy bears and suckers. Hell I may even try to make some medicated peppermint patties :)

Seems like more folks pull early than not. We let ours go till they are actually done. We're about to run some C99 after the Cotton Candy's come down in about 3 weeks. We've never grown either, the CC didn't get as big as we'd expected but it's flowering pretty good. I'll try and throw a pic up later when we do res change this evening or tomorrow.
