Caregiver Info

Hey guys, I'm looking for anyone that may have the time to answer a few questions about being a caregiver. I'm sending in my application with the $31 and $300 for at least one patient tomorrow. I made the mistake of only sending $31 for the background check in last year because I thought you get registered and then pay your patient fees once you find one. Anyhow, I live up in the county and don't know any caregivers or where to even begin looking for a patient, so I just wanted to have a clear understanding on how this is done before I spend money doing it. I'm an experienced indoor grower with 3+ years of experience which isn't a lot, but I know my way around a garden and I've done my homework. I don't wanna do this because I think I'm gonna get rich or any bs like that, I just want to grow nice buds and help people. I guess basically, I don't understand how to start. Do I have to find a patient that's willing to wait for the herb to grow? That seems weird to me I guess. I would more than love to apprentice a caregiver who would be interested even for a day to get the hang of things. If anyone could even point me in the right direction, or even private message me I would be forever grateful. Thanks. bud.png

Yeah you need to have the number to register to become a caregiver. So you need to have a patient who is willing. Its a little harder up here in the county not as many patients as the doctors are a less likely to give out the rec. (seems we have more "old school" doctors) they would rather send you to PT, give you narcotics, cut you into chunks, or send you on a 300 mile ride to boston 2-3 times a month. Another hurdle up here is that anyone who is with a certain major medical provider in our area, will not give out MMJ unless you will give up narcotics which I totally agree with to a certain extent ( I mean if you can get on a natural herb and away from the man made receptor blockers I'm all for it), but they are also very biased on giving out MMJ in the first place and just use that as a tool to keep people that may need both. As I'm sure you are aware that are area is plagued with abuse of pain killers, bathsalts, and other street opiates. This I feel has a big impact on giving out a natural medicine to the folks that need it.

This thread is an older one lol. I scrapped the caregiver idea for a little bit and just went and got my mmj card because I figured it would be a lot easier to just grow herb and have it readily available if I do decide to become a caregiver. And yeah, the way drs practice in the county is effing ridiculous my PCP tried to put me on so many different meds, I didn't even know what half of them were for, I later found out I was being treated with anti psychotic drugs for stomach problems. Needless to say, that isn't my primary anymore but they're all the same. I had to go get a current physical the day before I got my mmj card and the dr was still trying to push meds on me that day. It was just an uncomfortable environment and I don't agree with any of the bull they tell you. One dr tried to tell me the pills he prescribes are no more harmful than marijuana. I literally laughed so hard lol. I'm still going to go through with the testing they want to do, but no meds for me. All natural for as long as I can help it!

Also, I had to take a day off from work to travel from Presque Isle to Falmouth Integr8 Health to get my cert. I don't agree with most of the drs in the county.

Yes this is exactly the hurdle I am finding. I don't want the prescription pills that you have a special interest in....I feel if they are pushing a certain pill I bet they get "kick backs" or some benefit from doing so. Why when the patient doesn't want that, the law enforcement community really don't wan't any more of it out in the hands of folks due to the high probability of abuse. I'm all set I have seen the effects of that garbage and don't want any thing to do with it. I too have a feeling I will need to change my dr and go south as the mentality up here is that we are just "pot heads" who want a fix. Its a sad situation really.

^ the attitude towards marijuana use is night and day from up north to down south. if you feel like its not working out for you then move south some. and you can be a care giver a whole lot easier as well, not as far of a drive to someones house, etc.

Yes moving is an option, but I would hate to take my kids out of school, away from all they have established over the years. I just feel like we are looked like as DR shoppers because of the attitude up this way, that pushes us south for a doctor who will listen.

gotta do what you gotta do, having to take a day off work cause of a long drive to see a reasonable dr. is b.s.
there is so much more of a future for kids down south, imho. everything is pretty much a dead end in the county.
you've got schools, universities, clubs, job opportunities down south that are practically nonexistent up north.
