The stoma of the plant will close at i believe 85 degrees fahrenheit. The stoma is where CO2 and oxygen are exchanged. Therefore you lose one element that is essential for your plant to produce sugar through photosynthesis and this can cause slow growth or growth may come to a screeching halt.

MJB this is an awesome thread. It's cool that you and hubby are growing together. I am a first time grower (kind of) and have opted for a 4 site, DWC Set-up using an 18 gallon tote. I say kind of, because this is my second shot...my first was bag seed and they were all males. This attempt I actually spent the money on some Fem seeds.

Anyway, I couldn't help but notice your temps are between 80-100. Based on my research, I am given to understand that Photosynthesis halts at 92 degrees. I have further read that the ideal temps are between 72-77. During my first bag seed grow, I struggled with keeping my closet temps down below 84 and my plants seemed pretty healthy.....but I had to leave one side opened, which I could foresee becoming an issue late into flower.....unfortunately, I didn't get that far and my current crop are just seedlings.

Anyway, you may want to see if you can lower your room temp a bit. You definitely don't want your girls sitting in the 90-100 range, but I recognize how quickly HID lights (if that's what you are using) can turn a closet into an easy bake oven.

sorry for late reply but puff is right, when co2 is added however the stoma will not close at 85, plants can handle upwards of 90 degrees if proper co2 is added. anything over 90 degrees and the plants will suffer.

Wow those plants look like beasts!! I am scared to try DWC myself because I would beat myself up if I failed and the plants died! I'm actually surprised no one commented on this, but the nutes you're using (FF Big Bloom) are actually more inclined toward flowering. Fox Farm Grow Big is better for vegetation (6-4-4) because your plants need Nitrogen more than any other nute during the veg phase. Notice how on some of the plants that the bottom leaves started yellowing then dying? That's because they needed more nitrogen. From what I can see, those two bigguns don't seem none the worse for using a blooming nute though. They must be a very hardy strain! They look super healthy. Can't wait to see the buds you pull off those!

I started with 5 and am down to 2 lol I've done this twice before one at a time, the first turned out to be male, the second female but I made some super newb mistakes and messed that ho up! we smoked her but prematurely and only when we were out of other green! lol these plants are just some bagseed we picked up, I germed like 20 seeds and hubby took 10 I took 5. 5 didn't make it! thanks for the advice on nutes, money's tight so I do what I can. I don't update often but I've put some random stuff in my res, orange rindes particularly, it slimes up the water after about a week and a half but the plant's seem too not mind :) I'm in college to be a forensic scientist so experimentation is in my nature!!

I feel you on that, I love experimentation myself. Understand what you mean about money being tight. Am in the same situation... am very pro home remedy when it comes to plant solutions lol. Before buying Grow Big, used a urine mix (1 part urine, 15 parts water) for my plants. It worked awesomely well. Urine has nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus after all! Actually think my plants looked better than other people who used expensive nutes. Was able to save a stunted, yellowing plant with the mixture. Once I got some money, bought Grow Big because I was slacking on my diet. To be honest, don't really notice the difference. Would keep using the urine method but I decided not to flush with this grow (it is advised to flush when using urine to prevent the build-up of salts) and have my scrog screen secured in a way that it'd be a pain in the ass to keep moving my plants out of their box. I believe I've heard of people using it with DWC, but am not sure if you have to use it different or take special consideration.

hmm not quite yet. after you switch over to flowering a bunch of side branches will come out of the middle of the nodes, then at the bottom of thos nodes ull see eather a ball on a raised stem, or a little pointy leaf type thing sticking out. thats how i sex fast, look for a stem under it if the little part has a stem its gonna be a ball if theres no stem and its just a pointy thing coming out then at the end of the point a white hair will shoot out
