carbonated water is a common practice. it is generally sprayed on the leaves with a spray bottle. personally, i dont bother. BE SURE TO READ THE INGREDIENTS!!!!

cold water can shock your plants. one method for having the water at an appropriate temperature is to put the water in jugs before you are going to give it to the plants and store it in your grow area. the water will come close to being at the same temp as the grow area and wont shock the plants.

your grow room wants to be between 70-90 F (extreme ends of the spectrum... 75-80 F is considered optimum, generally).... usually, unless your house is very cold, the lights are enough to keep the room warm enough and cooling is your real problem. a thermometer is required for good grows.

sorry about the temps in F... i am an American and my brain isnt geared to cope with C ;)

now is this a 150 watt actuall wattage cfl or is this a 42 watt cfl that does the equivillant of 150 watts incandescent?

as this matters greatly.

see 150 watts isn't actually that much but a 150 watt cfl is comparable to a 450 watt incandescent.

about the carbonated water, i think seltzer water is purer than club soda (seltzer is just distilled with carbonation. now the reason why people say to spray it on and not add it to the soil is because during the day the plant consumes more co2, but during the night (lights out) the plant consumes more o2. well if your giving it co2 at night it might have some adverse affect. not sure i haven't seen anyone post about using selzter water as food. but i thinkk it is because of the rule ii just stated. night=o2 day=co2.

hope this helps,

there is no comparing incandescents to ANY grow light. they do not have the lumens nor the the correct light spectrum and throw off too much heat.... totally unsuitable and thus incomparable.

CO2 during lights off is worthless but shouldnt hurt the plants.... but once you pour it out the bubbles (the CO2) go away quickly... and the leaves are where the gasses generally get absorbed so it is much more efficient to spray the leaves.
