I'm actually in the UK. What other oder control is there? I have installed rubber seals round the doors of the room with the tent and also the front door. I also have thick black out fabric round the window which has masking tape sealing it.

I hope you have some sort of intake or it won't matter if you have a carbon filter or not, as your exhaust fan will be having a hard time drawing air out. Having a carbon filter is certainly a peace of mind.

It is my first grow, basically a friend with many years experience is helping me with it. He thinks that the negative pressure is enough that I wont need a filter. I am basically doing my own research as I don't want to get caught lol.
The chimney is high up as I am in a block of flats.

Tis far better to err on the side of caution if you are not 100% legal with your grow. < Ground rule #1

Everyone in your complex will know SOMEONE is growing weed! Ozonator will eliminate 100% of all smell. Good Luck

If you don't want to get caught, stop listening to the fool who's telling you that the negative pressure will be sufficient with it exhausting straight up the chimney.

If you lived in lonely town UK where you were the only house around for a while then sure blow it through the chimney.

In a block of flats, BIG FUCKING NO NO without odour control.

Up a chimney you should be OK. Even if someone smells something, they'll have a difficult time figuring out where it is coming from. After saying that, however it still may not be a bad idea to filter through carbon, even if it is a simple DYI carbon filter.

Actually I disagree a bit. In a block full of flats people may smell something but they won't be able to figure out exactly where it is coming from, especially that high up. Now I live in a house in a neighborhood, my neighbors are not too close but if I exhausted up my chimney without filtering people would know exactly where it is coming from. Sometimes large population areas provide you with more stealth and anonymity simply because there are so many people and your just another face in the crowd.

Just my humble opinion. As I said in a previous post, I would still filter even if it is with just a cheapo DYI carbon filter.

Thank you all for the replies! General consensus is to go with a filter which I kinda thought would be the case. Thanks again for the great replies.

Don't know the laws in the UK but in the states that'll lead the flat/complex owner to searching everyones rooms.
