Carbon Filters

Hi all,
I would like to ask the more experienced growers if they have used carbon filters both in the tent and outside from using the same ducting , Eg. inside the tent carbon filter hanging with extractor fan ducting attached going outside the tent and the ducting outside the tent attached to another carbon filter.
Sorry if it sounds stupid just curious.
Would this completly get rid of oder from a room altogether.
Any input would be appreciated.

one filter in either configuration is sufficient to remove all odur if you have the proper fan and air tight ducting for it. two filters on the same ducting line would be overkill in my opinion and would probably work, though you would have to run the fan at a higher speed to compensate for increased resisitance

^I agree with Adjorr.

Only thing I have to add is the best things you can do to help the carbon filter work at its best.
1. Use the correct speed, size and type of fan for the filter.
2. Replace it often, I replace mine every 6 months or so but you could get up to 12 months of use.

A fresh filter works way better then a 6 month old filter.

yup just get a quality filter and fan and your good. I run a phresh filter 100% no smell. I would highly recommend that brand.

all solid advice, no need for two filters, invest the money on a quality filter instead, and if you still get the sense of odor now and then a glass of ona gel will fix that



my ventilation/filter set up remove +99% of the odor, only if I just have had the door open to the grow room, its detectable, tho I still cant smell it, only friends/family when they visit

if I was afraid of neighbours etc. I would probably invest in a air cleaner with a active carbon filter or a ozone generator, and run it out side my grow room next to the hallway

Thanks for the Info everyone, I have decided not to purchase another carbon filter. I will invest in a better one instead for my flower room. I appreciate the comments.
Plus i think i might invest in a cooltube also they seem efficient at controling heat. Thanks

Cooltubes are, especially if your in 400 and up they get hot and need vented. As long as you got cold air in, hot air out you will be fine..

clever move, worth every penny IMO, not only do it keep your temps down, it also make it possible to keep the light closer to your plant`s and that is a hugh advantages with any artificial light

I had my 600W HPS at 20 inch distance before I got a cool hod on it (hood`s normally have better light foot print then tubes but also cost more) then I could keep it at 12-15"

I have a big problem with that chart. If I put my 600 watt hps 8 inches from my plants, the leaves bleach out. I keep my light at least 12" from my plants.

I also clean the air that goes into my tent. After changing out an old filter that was covered in dust and crap, I decided I did not want all that dust and crap on my buds. I filter air with a small carbon filter and pump the clean air into my tent. There is a large filter at the top of my tent.

It also helps with smell when I have my tent open.
