Yes thru the filter!
I also use Lemongrass oil, not lemon oil, Lemongrass oil. You put 2 oz's in a gallon of water, open container. It does wonders for the smell of the room.
Just a little old school knowledge passing along. We did this in the 60's before carbon filters.
