Carbon Filter Setup: HELP

So I have those professional style carbon filters; Can 33 with 6 inch can fan and I have hooked it up to the fan, but It seems to me that all it does is make the room hotter.

Around the carbon filter is the cotton lining and when I put my hand close to it I feel very little air... I dont understand why..

I cant hang the fan from the ceiling cause I cant find the beam( even with a stud finder) and the 2x4 wont stay drilled to the ceiling so it sits on the floor.

Wish I could post pics but cant find my usb cable....

Thanks for all your help

Does your exhaust vent outside the grow room? Is there static pressure? I built a negitive air pressure box to compensate for my 30' run out the roof. I also have the same filter with a fan tech 6 inch inline fan.

Yes both of the two lights are air cooled. The room size is 10x9 but I going to make a enclosed space for my 24 plants which should be 5x9. I am running a 1000watt hps and a 600 watt hps) would like to use a 1000 watt as well but it would be too hot, imo. This is being done in a bedroom.

I have this fan... http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52557.... and its intaking the air in the room and passing through the carbon filter which is also in the room. Very little air is felt when I put my hand next to the cotton so I dont know if its really working.

With 24 plants, I am thinking of getting another homemade carbon filter( MightyBuddha's) just so It eliminates everthing.

As long as there is not drag on the fan. My filter doesn't have air coming out at high speeds. My fan moves almost 400 cfm. No drag. If you turn on your fan and cover the intake side with your hand you can hear what drag sounds like. Detach the intake and exhaust to see how it sounds for comparison.

Yea..I hear nothing when I cover the intake.

I also dont want the fan to intake more air than the air that coming into the room...

If its not one problem....its another...lol

Why not. I have a passinve intake. Fan for the exhaust.
Fuck, now Im confused...lol

I have central air so air comes through this metal rectangle.

Im thinking of attaching another duct on one side of the air cooled reflector and then attach the other end to the intake of the fan(still having the original duct flow through to the carbon filter). This way I can get rid of some of the heat. (Is this what you are talking about?)

Is this a good idea or will it impair the carbon filter to work properly?

Your confusing me. Anyway I have 1st my ait cooled reflector. Attached to the reflector is a 6 inch vent pipe. That connects to the fan. The fan sucks air through the reflector. The fan is connected to the carbon scrubber via 6 inch vent pipe blowing the air through it. My scrubber is in a sealed negative air box that vents through the room. Sounds like you should exhaust outside and hook the carbon scrubber up in front of the reflector. So the fan sucks air through rather than blowing.
