Nothing surprises me. If you told somebody 40 years ago that in 2013 people would happily post their lives online and allow companies to track everything they say and do, they would think you were crazy and laugh at you. Americans are so GD "look at me" is is disgusting. That's why reality tv is everywhere now.

cha-ching! i like to pay my insurance in full up front because i'm no good with monthly payments. the lady on the phone said "that's great! did you know that we offer a discount for paying in full?"

that's $6.13 that stays in MY pocket, bitches.
I do the same. I just can't believe I have a clean record and thats all I get for it. I pay more cause of all the reckless drivers

Crazy shit. I thought I read somewhere that all cars starting in 2014 will have some type of tracking device in them. I wouldn't be surprised if they put in sensors at speed limit signs and mail you a ticket if you are over, so the cops can sit at Dunkin Donuts a little longer. The new tvs have cameras and mics in them. I have been saying this shit for years and now, a little of it is getting into mainstream media. What you are hearing is nothing compared to what they are actually doing. I am making plans to get out of here soon.

Every inch you give them, you will NEVER get back and they add up fast. If you're one of those people who repeat the phrase they feed you, "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about", you deserve everything you have coming, but fuck you for fucking it up for everyone else.

If your car has navigation or OnStar or any other device that reaches out to somewhere else, it can be tracked. That constitutes the majority of new vehicles nowadays.

So true.
We as Americans and folks from all over are just giving up personal info everyday.
Facebook, Twitter, Tattoos you make yourself personally identifiable.

People didn't the like the chip implant idea so other plans were implemented.

I'll be damned if Flo is gonna ride in my cars.

Until the other person you wrecked into or whatever tries to sue you, guy was trying to sue me for almost $4k for something that wasn't even my fault, but the car was under my name.
My insurance company managed to settle out of court.

You guys really pay $100 a month? I pay $180 every 6 months but I've never been in a wreck or gotten a ticket.
That's a very good price!
What insurance co. is that?

Does anyone know what kind of discounts ppl are getting with these things?

My girlfriend uses progressive. The device is only plugged into your car for a short time span. Its been a while back, but I think it was something like 1-3 months. I think they said it keeps track of heavy braking and acceleration, and other nonsense. But, in the end, she got something like a 30-40% drop in her rates after the period.

Actually, you pay more because of uninsured motorists..typically the highest rates are in the states with highest uninsured to insured ratio.

You know as a software engineer that lifts data for money it's that other nonsense that gets to me. Then again I have the tools to decode that nonsense and what sense it makes to me concerned me greatly. Especially when you consider collateral database base matching/mining that's going on. The problem is you guys don't see it because it's coming at you from several discreet locations.

Ah well as long as you have nothing to hide eh? LOL Anyway enjoy the bargain because it really doesn't matter we are all rolled up and owned anyway. Oh and wait until you see what OBD-III rolls out....

While that makes it a tad easier. It's not necessary. See collateral database mining, LOL.

You pulled that statistic from your ass. And it's not accurate. Massachusetts has one of the highest auto insurance rates in the nation and we have one of the lowest uninsured motorists rates, something like 5 or 6%. And last time I checked, nationwide, uninsured motorists percentage as a whole is something like 14% or so.

You are being lied to by your insurance company.

I may be mistaken, but Im not sure collateral database mining and analysis has anything to do with motor vehicles, rather with felonious crimes.
