Please stop

I had that guy on ignore. Didn't realize he was still going.

So one side is posting easily verifiable facts about little PP's votes and record as a life long politician, and one guy is posting unsourced claims, or easily fact-checked lies that little PP is pushing out, is that a succinct summation?

I learned long ago that if I'm not able to place my emotions on ice, perhaps I shouldn't join the fray of dispute. There's been no intention/effort on my part to rile anyone.

I remember the last time I was angry, it was grade nine in the high-school library. Growing up we'd been forced to attend Sunday school from a young age and were fed many things that I found questionable. I already knew it to be false that all those creatures didn’t fit onto a boat. There had been considerable embarrassment the previous year when I'd contested the existence of dinosaurs. This particular day I was focused on creationism vs evolution, so I went to retrieve an encyclopedia that would explain the male and female anatomy. The answers I found pissed me off immediately - men do not have one less rib than woman - shocker! Things were never the same after that as I spent numerous hours in the library reading encyclopedias.

These days I acknowledge that not everything requires my energy. It's taken several years of effort to be optimistic and positive minded. Every morning there is a commitment to not complain, make no excuses and to be grateful. Not having electricity, indoor plumbing or running water till I was nearly six helps me to appreciate present day life.

For me, Youtube is used to figure out how to change the leaky valve cover gasket on the garden tractor, how to prune the apricot trees or why the washing wanders on the spin cycle. Most other sources of information come from printed text.Talking to many people, I've learned that Youtube is their source of news. I can't imagine listening to cherry picked video frames, accompanied by repetitive negativity. Printed text allows me to form my own opinions.

I'm honestly thankful you all aren't responding right now.

I tried to calmly ask him to stop attacking people—especially since no one was even engaging with him—but somehow, that turned into me "taking away his rights."

We work really hard here to keep things fair. Moderation has nothing to do with what party someone supports. But constantly quoting others and launching personal attacks? That’s the issue we’ve been trying to address.

I tried to explain that’s the problem from a mod standpoint, but instead I’m being painted as “out for blood,” “having personal issues,” or “trying to silence someone who knows more about politics.”

It’s never, “Oh, I get it—you’re not mad about my political stance, you're just asking me not to attack or insult people.”

It appears I should have spent more time questioning things over my years alive. Sad to say, but up until a few minutes ago, I thought men had one less rib, lol.

Yes, I believe you are correct to not get involved in disputes that make you get too angry when you can more easily shelf your emotion, and expend your time and energy on something more constructive. Not to say I've really got that principle mastered, but I'm getting better.

Sunni, your job can be difficult, and you are human. Nobody likes getting sh*t on, and that's probably a regular occurrence for you unfortunately. It's like Ozumo said, "he commits himself not to complain, make no excuses, and be grateful". If everyone lived by those principles, there would be far less conflict in the world, and alot more happiness.

I'm grateful for this site. It's such a pool of knowledge that I don't want to lose, basically because I am realistic, I don't know it all, and want to learn more. Sunni, your moderation helps keep the site running, so for me, keep on doing your job, I think you do it well..., except when you tell me something I might need to hear about my own posts, lol.

I spent a lifetime punching up, a lot as a union tradesman, but in many other situations as well. I'm proud of the tours I've served but now it's time for the younger folks to take up the battle. I only rise up these days in self defense, and then only against actual threats. Yapping little mutts just get ignored.

You guys have no idea how much i do here, like it isnt JUST modding,
it goes so far beyond that, its crazy , and yet im treated consistently like crap by so many people all the time.

I get rape threats, death threats probably weekly, i get screamed at on the daily.
it can be pretty exhausting.

Yeah, i dont have any idea what your job entails. Like i said earlier, im just grateful for the site, and obviously you help to keep it up and running.

It is disgraceful how some people act when they don't have to actually face you in person. It's cowardly and says alot about those who do it.
