Can you use a 400 watt MH for entire grow??

I have a 400 watt MH and an HPS conv. But can you just use the MH thru an entire grow??

Yes. It will usually reduce your yield compared to the HPS, but MH-only users claim increased potency and reduced stretching.

I have no direct experience to confirm or deny this, but I see it said often enough.

You can but you shouldn't.

its got more of the blue spectrum for vegging which is really not good for flowering when you need more of the red spectrum.. its up to you..gl

better to use hps for the whole grow or best mh for veg and hps for flower

hps from seed to harvest.
(dual spectrum lamp/bulb).
1 lamp does all no need for cfls or mh.

cfls should be put as far away from your plants as possible.
the trash can is a good idea.

You could probably use a night light for the entire grow, but MH vegging with HPS flowering is the most effective way of doing it.

not really true. dual spectrum bulb hps from seedling to harvest is best NO cfls or mh needed.
done cfls and mh and nothing works better than dual spec hps.
(i have proved it on my own experience and grows).
with amazing results.
