Can you take a clone from the main stalk?

Lets say you have a foot tall plant that doesn't really have any branches big enough to take clones from. Can you take a clone right from the stalk? Like - just cut the first four or so inches off the top?

Is this a good idea, or is it better to wait for branches? Little afraid cutting the plant in half will stunt total overall growth.

A. Yes, you can cut the plant in half and clone it...

What will happen to the rest of it, if it doesnt die for being completely shocked, is it will promote it to grow outward, like a bush, and it will stop producing the hormone that makes it grow tall....not advised to do what you suggesting...my advice would be to get more light to your plant, give it super thrive and be patient...

what are you working with currently? medium, wattage etc

it wont stop producing growt hormones attal, it will just be forced to the highest nodes...and like you said, make it bushy

Each time i have topped a plant instead of just pitching the top, i root it and veg it for a bit. which is basically what you are doing. so far no problems here.
