Have a half inch by half inch hole in my resi. Can you fix this or do you just need to buy a new one?

what are these things made of anyhow? i need something non-toxic obviously but dont feel like throwing in another 130 for a 6 month old resi.

any other options?

Doesn't really matter what it's made of - some kind of plastic!

Get yourself a couple of stainless steel washers (just a little bigger than the hole, but with a small hole in the center). Put one "inside" and one "outside". Hold these together with a small stainless steel nut and bolt. Squirt in a little blob of silicone sealer before you tighten it down. BAM! Common sense wins again!

That would work, just a simple fix. I'd recommend going to a pet store and getting the clear silicone for fish tanks (They use tem for leaks and such) It is a non toxic form and would be safe.

 $130????? Fuck that ... go to walmart and spend $15 on a rubbermaid bucket.... or are you talking about a big flood tray?
I have a 100 gallon resi for my room. I do have a friend who just uses a huge trashcan and just plugs the pump\valve that closes the water from being brought down by gravity, but I think I'll stick with what I have.

He just puts his plants right on the ground and leaves a little puddle on the ground... his results are pretty damn good too.

Thanks for the tip about the fish tank silicon gang. You guys kick ass

I just bought 2 Rubbermaid Roughneck 18 gal tubs last night at Target; they were $9 each.

Holy shit... If you have a hole in your 100 gal rez, by all means FIX IT. Get you some PVC cement and a piece of PVC, cut the patch, maybe do it inside and outside just to make sure. I've never done a rez that big so I have no idea how much water you need.

The hole is in a weird place..its RIGHT at the start of a curvature in the plastic, but I think it can be done. I'll keep ya guys posted on what happens.

I'm wondering if PVC cement would do the trick, and maybe I dont need to do the nut and bolt idea- it'd be tough with the placement of the hole.
