Can you determine lineage by looking at early flowers?

I know everyone says look at the width of the leaves to get an idea if a strain is more indica or sativa dominant, but from my experience, the time it takes to ripen is a much better indicator, I think.

But basically my question - can you possibly get a hint about an unknown strains origins by looking at how fast the flowers develop in the first week to a week and a half? I've got a pure indica strain that by the beginning of week two I already see little balls of flowers at the top forming nicely. She finishes in roughly seven to eight weeks at most. I've got another strain, it takes at least nine to ten weeks before I would call it done. And by the end of week one (under the same conditions) it has just started to show pistils at the top. So is this a good indicator that it's more sativa dom? Just curious about your own experiences in this regard. In the long run it doesn't really matter obviously as long as they flower till they're ready, but maybe this is a better indicator than leaf width?

Thanks!

Honestly theres little way to tell. Basically you have an unknown plant. How do you know it's a pure indica? It could just be a hybrid and that particular seed is showing more indica. Either way good luck on your grow.

Yeah, I know there's no way to know with any certainty, but I was just curious... From my (limited) experience, it seems that if a strain starts flowering quickly, and finishes fast it must be fairly indica dominant, especially since the effects tend to match... And yeah, I don't know for sure that it's a pure indica... shouldn't have said that... But it has to be close, and this strain is very consistent...

Has anyone ever come across an indica dom strain that finishes fast, but doesn't really get going strong until like week two or even three? I'm sure there are such things, just not from what I've grown... :)
