can you clone autos?

No. You can but they are going to flower shortly after rooting and you are gonna get a gram or 2 yield....cloning autoflowering plants takes out the already short vegg period that they have.

Yes you can but it is not efficient/ effective. Somebody had one with pictures up a while ago it was basically a blunt on a stem. It'd be cool to do for shits n giggles but not a good way to boost harvest.

Yea I've personally done it before and ended up with a plant that was 6 inches tall with a 4" cola....but very loose bud since the root system did not have a chance to grow before it started flowering.....and this was in a big pot, so root space was certainly not an issue lol. Usually bigger plants produce better buds anyway.

was just wondering if cloning is an option for auto flowering strains

Yes, you can take a cutting and root it.

The problem is that since you can't maintain a clone in vegetative growth, there is no point to trying this.

The rooted clone will still autoflower, and now you've stunted its growth by cutting off the "mother". So you end up with less overall yield than if you had just left the plant alone to begin with.

what if you took a bunch of clones and party cupped them...might be something for small spce grows to consider ?
