can we have too much CO2?

Hey everyone,, i built a new 15' x 15' sealed grow room for our mothers, complete with 6 - 400 watt cool tubes, mini split air conditioner/heater, dehumidifier and co2 burner. The room stays around 81, humidity at 60 percent, but the co2 can tend to run a little high. Its usually about 600 ppm in the room, and when we go in to feed or take clones, it goes even higher. Since moving the mothers into the room, they started turning a bit yellow, and their new growth leaves are getting thin and spindly,, and outside the co2, i cant find any reason for the issue.

Now keep in mind that the moms were under T5 8 lamp florescents before, and now under 400 watts of HID, so i bumped up the nutes a little to accommodate the additional lumens, and waiting to see if that helps a bit, but i did want to get some opinions regarding the co2 bouncing around and shooting up,and whether i should be looking at this as a possible issue?

I don't use CO2 so don't take what I say as gospel but I'm pretty sure most people aim for 1500ppm.

Why it would go up when you open the door is a complete mystery to me. Usually it's the opposite, yanno?

Perhaps you have faulty measuring equipment?

As for the plant, using co2 combined with slightly higher temps kicks their metabolism up a notch. Perhaps you just aren't keeping up with it?

1500 is meant for flowering, and thats not what im doing, i am just trying to maintain a natural environment.

ppm's do not rise when the door is open, but rather when we are in the room working, which makes total sense, but doesn't help answer my question.

600ppm isn't too high at all. Many run 1500ppm all through the grow.

Ok so my ppm's jumping around isnt a problem? That being said, i now have no idea what my plants issue is... Maybe its just the need for higher nute ppm's.

600ppm won't hurt, I usually run 1100 in veg and 1400 in flower, I would look elsewhere for your issues.

That's a big room just for mothers, how big is your flower room?

My plants bump my sealed room from 1500 up to 2600+ ppm CO2, as plants use Oxygen and put out CO2 in the dark. That said, my CO2 generator does not have to run at all for the first several hours of the light cycle.

Somewhere around 10k ppm it becomes toxic to mammals. So yes it can get too high.

Umm, nothing in this post is correct. Are you just taking the piss?

Growth starts to slow above 1500ppm and plants don't consume oxygen and produce cO2 at night, lol

Glucose + Oxygen = Energy + CO2 + H2O

It's called respiration, where plants use sugars from photosynthesis. Read about it.

@Rusty Shackelford how far are your lights from the canopy?

Lol, where can I get some of these magical cO2 producing plants? I would build a second room next to mine to pull air from, save heaps of money on cO2 tanks. HAHAHA

400 Watts only a few inches above the canopy. I went from a ventilated room to a sealed room, and the girls are struggling a bit.

What are your canopy temperatures getting up to?

Tell me more about your growing system. Soil/hydro, pot size/reservoir size, feeds, pH.

I am growing in Hempy Buckets which has been working GREAT for me for years now. I use Coco and Perlite mix, in 2 Gallons, and have to Feed every day, to every other day. As the plants get bigger, it usually ends up being a feed once a day thing. I have been using CNS17 for Coco without any real issues, but they recent changed their formula, so its not a separate mix for Coco or Hydro any longer, its now the same bottle for both, although the numbers seem to be the same as their coco mix that I had been using.

Canopy Temps are 83 degrees and holding steady.

My PH may have been off slightly, as I just re-calibrated. I really love my Oakton Meters, cause they really never need to be calibrated, so I tend to get complacent and forget to calibrate at least once a month,, But the fact that all this has happened just as I moved them into the new room, leads me to believe that PH is not the main factor here. Oh and I PH my feed to 5.8 - 6.1 every watering.

I just bumped up the feed on my moms from 800 ppm's (.05 factor) to 950 ppm's to see if I can get them to green up some. That was yesterday and they have not burned, so I think I might step it up a little more tomorrow.

CO2 is 581ppm right now. This is slightly better than the outside ppm's but not huge, so I wouldnt think this little bump in CO2 would require a huge amount of light and water to keep everything in balance.

As far as I can tell, everything seems to be in order,,, So I am a bit stumped, other than THEY JUST NEED MORE FEED!
