Can topping cause hermies?

My plant was way too tall so I started cutting down, I can't flower until the smallest is ready and I only have one room. I cut 14 inches off the tops I've done like 3-4 and there's two left. Can this cause a hermie and can I remove lower growth(bottom branches I don't need) at the same time. I've been doing this slowly over the past two days.
I have picture of before I started, and what it looks like now and the growth I removed
IM NOT JUST TOPPING, THESE PLANT ALSO HAVE ALTERNATE NODES SO WONT BE SPLITTING INTO TWO TOPS, just reducing height.

no topping it will not cause herm...... but over time if the plant is a mother plant to cut clones off of it . about 6 months down the road it will start to lose its genetics . im talking about letting it grow 7 foot tall keep taking 1 foot clones off it . then it will start to change into an useable plant . other words your all good 55249f820a750[1].jpg

I have never experienced genetic drift.

If you're still in vegg wich I think you mentioned above, because you are waiting for the second plant....

In vegg do all the shit you need it will not cause any problems, but with a BIG BUT make sure she has recovered before you stick her into flower, that way she shouldn't hermie unless you think of chopping more lol,....

In vegg she will not hermie just make sure all is good and growing happy them set her off.

I hope that answerd you question buddy

yes I can see you keeping a mother for years . I was cutting a 7 foot plant down to just 1 small branch . to about 6 inches tall . it was starting to shoot out 1 finger leafs . on the new growth . it was tired of growing or stressed from all the abuse . I done that about 6 times

As thumper said....1 leaf growth is a sign of reveg.
Mother plants should ideally be kept like bonsai plants...not 7 footers imo. But I also change my mother's after a certain amount of time as well.

i have kept moms for four years but a friend of mine has a 12 year old mom he gets it tested every year same plant. It needs a thriving rizosphere with healthy micro life and natural sun light only uses artificial light to keep from flowering also take cuttings every spring am make new/ same mom may loose the hybrid vigor but same plant all genetics are always there tissue culture also works to keep a plant indefinitely

How else would they have kept clone only strains from the 90s, right?

I clone things other than weed and the genetics have all stayed true. I have aloe and citronella from almost 6 years ago. The mothers right now are probably in the neighborhood of around a 15th to 20th gen pair of clones. No genetic drift whatsoever.

I must be pushing them to the max . never real sun light always 24/7 could be because I only have the moms under t5 light that is actually to small to save the electric and I need to slow the growth . 1 plant is just to much for cutting 71 clones off time after time . or I just have bad luck with mothers . any way after 3 harvests with the same stuff its time to switch it up .

You don't cut 71 clones from one plant. You turn a clone into the mother and flower the big bitch.

You can buy new genetics if you want every 3 harvests. If you had a badass pheno though, you just wasted it.

If you have patients that expect one strain of medicine you should at the very least pass it on to others before Getting rid of it IMO
