alright well my very first time growing i had 4 plants growing and i was just messing around and they grew healthy for about 2 months. I didnt do anything special but due to my situation i had to lay them to rest.

Now im trying to grow again and cant seem to do it although ive read alot and trying to take care of them.

I germinated about 10 bag seeds. All but 1 germed

planted them in party cups and after about 3 weeks only 1 sprouted.

The one that sprouted had really slow growth and started yellowing on all leaves and burning. All the leaves were droopy and hanging down. The stem was also like purpleish.

My guess is that its fucked now and cant save it.

The very first time growing i used this seed starting soil stuff from the dollar store and surprisingly it worked very well. I also used this seedling dome thingy. I watered once while they were in that and when i planted it in a party cup i watered it once a week because it didnt need watering. I transplanted into a 10 gallon pot after a month.

Now i used the same stuff except the seedling dome thing and cant seem to get any of my seeds to sprout .

Right now im using cfl's but thats what i used the first time too

hmmmm so your saying the seeds had a tap root but planted them and they didn't come out of the soil? if that' the case maybe you planted them too deep or upside down or something. Just germinate some more bagseeds until you have it down and i'd recommend getting some seeds online for when your ready. if you still have problems try just planting the seeds about 1/4'' directly in the soil and keeping it moist until they germinate.

I would like nothing more to help you but I don't really feel like typing out a repeat tutorial on germination and seedling...not trying to be one of those guys who only post to tell you to google your question.... but do some googling...I think you need to look at a couple different ways to germinate. there is the paper towel. just planting the things and keeping them moist. rockwool is awesome. the jiffy seed starters are okay. once you get past getting them to sprout and show cotyledon leaves, then you can try to see why the plant isnt doing well.

pictures always help. okay u say by u germed 10 seeds, meaning what...u paper toweled them until the root(s) showed & then planted? What kind of soil r u using? It sounds like if u were using soil w/premixed release fertz the inital yellow/burn could have been from that, droopy leaves sounds like u overwatered. Again, these r just educated guesses. How much r u watering, r u checking the ph of ur soil? The more info u give & or provide pics the more help u will get :)

Well first time i germinated i used the paper plate and paper towel method. Germed 6 seeds and the tap roots got about a half inch long. This time i germed in a dixie cup with paper towels and a little bit of water in the bottom and after about 36hours them tap roots was like an inch long.

I always plant with tap root facing down and no deeper than a half inch in soil.

With the cfls i have them about 2-3 inches away because its not even hot to the touch. I have 2 23 watt 5000k cfls and 1 27watt 6400k bulb.

I will post a pic of the screwed plant in next post

im just using this seed starting soil stuff. Nothing special but it worked for my very first grow pretty well which shocked me cuz i was just messing around.

I maybe wrong but i think this plant is dead and we wont see pics .....sounds like he wants to know why it died ...''All the leaves were droopy and hanging down '' ''The stem was also like purpleish'' ( were & was )...... yowhyteboy 08 u killed it ...its ok. we cant help if u cant trust us ..............im justing joking with ya lmao im bored .....real quick and then search ,put seeds in cup with water. let crack open in 1-5 days. wait for tails on seeds. take seeds and put in moist not soaked soil no lid .buy good soil ....when u do a search it will fill in any ?s u got . as for what happened to ur 1st seeds you killed them lmao joking w/ you again

I watered once the first week enough to where there was drainage out the bottom. I checked it like every other day and pot was still kinda heavy and at like day 5 i put my finger in like a inch maybe deeper in the soil and it was still pretty wet so i waited about 3 more days and it was a little more dryed up. So i watered it again. Ive only watered it i believe twice because theres quite a bit of soil and its a pretty big of a pot for a seedling i guess. Im not adding any extra nutes other than whats in the soil.

I think u over watered and like i said alotta people bitch about that soil...if u got more seeds try again with different soil and use a smaller pot

This is the plant that is stunted in growth and yellowing, drooping, and burning.

And actually this plants in miracle grows organic choice soil which was all that was available at the time.

Sorry if pics are bad its from my phone
okay, u indicated the plant suffered from temperature stress (air left on), it looks a bit burnt although I know nothing about that MG soil & what ferts it may have in it. definitely always start seeds in party cups or small pots of eqivalent size from now on. There is no way to guage the water needed in a pot so big for such a small plant. It actually may be underwatered as much as overwatered, no way to tell. u can either wait it out in the pot its in, or gently transplant to a smaller pot. if u leave it in here, water when the soil around it gets dry, u cannot do hefting in this pot w/this plant at this point. all u can do is give it another week & see if it rebounds on it own, keep ur temps stable, watch & wait.

looks like something is munching on it. What kind of water are you using? Got to keep it in a warm room. forget about the lighting for now. Just keep it warm and moist for the first week ,keep it alive and then take it from there. I forgot to say that i use peat pods after germination. They work great for me. Good luck, the 3rd time is the charm. jethead

there is some of debate as far as germinating, paper towels? or not, soaking, until they sink and crack. Soaking them in water causes the seed to swell and plump up, first they float and when they fill w/water 2-5hrs later they sink, good seed and bad seeds both, they get water logged and sink.
You can then put them on a wet paper towel and under a dome or something and place on top of something warm like a horticultural heating mat (use the top of my water heater), a heating pad on the lowest setting, put towels on top of the heating pad if it's the medical kind(for people). Or after sinking. put them in a high quality soiless mix or a peat pellet,or a tomato refill if you kind find them. the tomato refill swells to 4" tall, a reg peat pellet about 2" and they both tend to dry out quickly. No fertilized soil at all at this point for germinating and sprouting. The less you handle the spout after it's cracked the shell the better.
Or after the seed sinks you can skip the paper towels and go directly to the peat pellet/tomato refill or premium soilless mix marketed for seedlings.
IMO don't soak until they crack. I've tried both methods and have gotten higher germination rates by planting after they sink and keeping them gently warm, like the sun would warm the soil. I also sprinkle the soil once with cinnamon to prevent damping off.
There is on RIU a sticky on germination/seedlings/growing u should check it out. Really, or google it, lots of info out there
Remember pictures are worth a thousand words.
Nobody can help you w/o pics

RE: googled info, there is also bad intel as well. DO NOT FORCIBLY CRACK THE SHELL YOURSELF. If it is a viable seed it can do that all on it's own.

if they are bag seed I would just keep trying till you get the process right. who cares if a couple die. they dont mean much anyway
