This is not root rot. I just dumped my res. And redid everything. Using hydro guard for 3 gallons. The roots will just not grow. I removed all media to check roots. All roots above water are very white???? Help. I'm having to ph down and its growing quickly. Should I leave it alone? One of my nutes is very dark brown sugar daddy.20210812_122805.jpg20210812_124307.jpg

yes they can get stained. I use floranova and it stains them nicely. I had some wimpy looking roots recently when I vegged too long under the weak flourescent lighting. life happens.

Does it smell fresh or like rotten carrots? I would suggest you steer away from organics when starting out in hydro.

It seems like you mix all bunch of stuff instead of starting with the basics and get that fully dialed in? Plants don't need anything other than a complete plant food from start to finish

They smell fresh the only thing there on is sugar daddy and root 66. Which is for seedling state. They are way past this point

Do you think its stain or rot from pics. I heard stain will be very even across all roots which looks like to me

Sugar daddy is a bogus product and will likely cause problems. Stay away from any carbohydrates or "sweeteners" in hydro. They're only sold because people think plants use sugars to enhance cannabinoid and terpene profiles.

This is a straight up lie, plants are plants don't consume sugars like mammals do. You only create a readily available food source for bad bacteria cultures to flourish. You're better of keeping the water as clean as possible. Cheers!

That looks like stain, they don’t look “slimy” plus you confirmed it doesn’t smell. I used to run a couple inches of airspace between netpots and solution, the stuff above the water was bright white, the roots hanging in solution would stain sometimes quite dark depending on what I was running in solution at the time.

Agree with @Wastei on keeping down what you put out in your res, you want nutrients that are usable to be taken up by your plants, not a bunch of stuff that promotes bad bacteria. Root rot sucks.

You dumped sugar into a hydro Rez, it's going to go badly.

Unless you're a seasoned organic hydro grower stick to base nutes and ro water at first. Sterilize all equipment with bleach and fill the Rez up with ro water and a mineral salt base nute.

Got rid of root rot. Now that it actually has roots. I threw NPK at them. Leaves showing N deficiency. Is that ok? Is this plant considered vegetative?
I think veg starts once the first multi finger leaves develop, but that is definitely into veg.
